JUL 27
"Hello Gene -------

We have concluded our investigation into your case and have decided in your
favor.

We were able to recover $85.00 USD and this amount has been credited to
you.  Please allow five business days for this adjustment to be posted."

Still have not heard from Tywithay and really don''''t expect to! But, at least I have my $$$$ back!
BUYER BEWARE!!!!

JUL 22 STILL NOTHING!!!

Jul 16.. Nothing!! No replys, nothing from paypal.I''''m starting to get in a BAD MOOD!!!!!!!

Jul 11
Ty''''s answer to p pals request
Seller: I dropped off the package at a fedex drop box with a label that I printed off. The tracking # is 075416215000003. I understand why the customer is upset, but if FedEx lost the package, it is out of my hands. I shipped the package and provided tracking, and they lost it. I contacted Fedex and they said they would look further into it and check the drop box again then contact me. They never did contact me back. I think that once the package ships, it is up to the shipping company to take care of it, my end was done.

JUL10 ..PayPal claim has just been filed! I personally will not deal with Ty Ford again. I hope others here have not had the same results as I!!

I requested a refund from Ty on July 6. He read the msg. NO REPLY!! I have also checked with Fedex and just generating a label doesn''t mean squat! Until the package is in their hands, no insurance, NO CHARGE!!!

This is my LAST communication about this! I''ve tried 3 more times after this and no replys! He has my money!!!!!!

Message:  Sorry for not getting back to you sooner. In the process of moving because I was laid off from my job. I did drop the ball off at a fedex drop box near my house on 6/22. I checked the tracking # I gave you and it is the right number. Upon searching it, it doesn''t show any information, which is odd. I did call fedex and they gave me the same speel about never receiving the ball. I told them that I had dropped it off in a drop box and they said they''d have a driver check that box to make sure it wasn''t left behind, but I''''ve heard nothing back after that. That was on the 29th when I called them. I hope they call back soon, because I''d really like to know what happened. Otherwise I''m going to be out a ball and money, which doesn''''''''t sit well with me. I''ll keep you posted if I hear anything more from them.

Thanks,
Ty

Something looks wrong here. FEDEX should have found something by now.

tywithay has to have FEDEX do a trace. I have never had them do this.

With either FEDEX or UPS I tend to get a receipt whenever and wherever I drop off a package. That way they have not one blessed thing to say about whether or not they took possession of the package for delivery.

Leaving it in a box give you ZERO opportunity for validation. They can always say they never got it. You have no leg to stand on, so to speak.

The drop boxes that FEDEX and UPS have in our area are in no way big enough to put a ball in, not that they don't make them big enough to stick a ball in.  I tend to agree with them, I always drop off at the UPS Store or have it picked up at work so as to not have any question on whether it was picked up.  Good luck.

About 6 month's ago I ordered some brass tubing from a company for a custom bar I was building for a customer. The company shipped it Fedex. I had a tracking number and everything. That was the last anyone had seen of my tubes. The company then sent me out 2 more, but only after Fedex admitted they lost my original shipment. So it does happen.....

I would love to find out Fedex lost it, but again, there is no record of them getting it in the first place.

FedEx Nashville lost a bowling ball for me once. And sent another one to Seattle before finally finding it a month later (hint: I don't live anywhere near Seattle).

Honestly, the story sounds like a load of crap. Like one other poster mentioned, there's no way I could fit a bowling ball, let alone the box it would be shipped in, in a drop box. But there might be exceptions. There has to be a receipt of proof at least on his end for the shipping of the ball, right?

I cannot drop a ball intended for Ground shipment in a FEDEX box. Up til now, it was intended for EXPRESS shipment only. I haven't tried to do that in several years.

Had this one, too, with UPS once. Ordered an overseas ball from an American pro shop. They take my money, next day UPS is showing as having "received" the ball. Four weeks later, nothing. Get UPS to investigate it, they actually had the driver who had that route give me a call himself. He said he never picked anything up, and that the notification of pickup was an automated message that went out when UPS received notification that a client intended to ship something. He said when he went by the bowling center the next day, they had nothing for him to pick up, so he thought it was a mistake on UPS' part and he let it go.

Turns out what happened is that someone walked in to the shop the same day I bought the ball, and offered more money. So despite having already taken my money, they sold the thing out from under me. I finally got the pro shop owner to admit it and he refunded my money.

As a few have mentioned, there is no way that a bowling ball would fit in a FedEx dropbox. And if he was sending it FedEx Ground FedEx Express wouldn't do anything with it.

As far as the paypal claim you have proof that you paid and never received anything and they should rule in your favor and just pull the money from his account.

With the tracking number that was given to you if it doesn't say anything it means nothing was ever created. To get the tracking number it still should show that something was created ie: there has to be a transmission to get said number. I wish you the best of luck on getting what you rightfully paid for.

When the tracking number never shows it moving then it was never picked up. It wasn't picked up by FedEx because some idiot "allegedly" left a box next to a fed ex drop box and I'm sure within maybe 20 minutes someone else took the package and was pissed to find it was a bowling ball.

I would double check with FedEx to make sure that shipping was actually paid for. I think with a FedEx account it will give you a tracking number even before you click ship/pay to print the label. If it shows it was never paid for just generated the guy is lying about everything.

I still find it hard to believe someone would just leave a package sitting out side of anywhere for someone else to come and get, but some people really are the stupid.

right wrong or indifferent, at this point I would get my money back
I 100% agree that sometimes on rare occasions UPS and FED-EX lose things, as it has happened to me with no explanitiation from them, it just disappeared in the shipping black hole.

I would get Ty to refund my money, and let Ty work out getting his money back through filing a claim w/ Fed-Ex. I know UPS insures 100 dollars per shipment, and I think Fed-Ex has a similar policy in place.

I have not personally traded w/ Ty, but I believe he is a stand up guy JMO

let us know how it turns out

Fed-ex once lost a ball being shipped to me. They finally found the EMPTY BOX on a shipping dock in Washington state. The ball was coming from Indiana, and I live in Tx.

There was, however, proof that it was picked up, and proof that it was moving before it became "lost".

File a paypal claim ASAP. That should get his attention. If there are funds in the account, it will put a hold on them until the issue is resolved. If you get the ball or a refund, drop the claim, no harm, no foul.

I am currently dealing with this for $400 worth of product that was picked up by USPS for International delivery. I watched them pick it up. How can you be sure the carrier scans the product???

Paypal is holding my money and there is no evidence of the box being picked up becasue it was not scanned yet. Package was picked up on June 21st. It still reads nothing but proof of postage purchased. The funny thing is the postage cost me $180 alone....

It is possible that it happened but it's still the sellers problem until the package arrives.

Did you escalate the Paypal dispute to a claim?
You can do that once the other party responds, or after 7 days of no response.
Must be done within 20 days of filing dispute.
If the seller is telling the truth, I sympathise with him, but it is still his responsibility to deal with.

I feel sorry for him also but the reality is he has my $$ and I have nothing right now. I would think he would have some type of insurance claim to file but I have not heard from him since Jul 1 !

Claim was escalated on Jul 10 nothing since. I have benn researching and have come up with 2 interesting things.
1- Not saying that this is what happened... I can generate a shipping label, not ship and NOT BE CHARGED FOR THE LABEL
2- There is a claim of putting it in a drop box. The drop boxes are for EXPRESS only not for regular ground, and I am not under the impression that that was the way the ball was to be shipped!
I really would like to be positive on the matter as I have done over 100 transactions here and not 1 negitive on me!!!

Re: Tywithay why don't you take care of this?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I hadn't actually seen that thread over there yet, very interesting read. I'd be lying if I said I spent more than 10 minutes on BR in a week, so I don't see much of what is going on over there.

To the topic at hand: I told Gene back at the end of June that I was trying to contact Fedex about the shipment and whether or not it had actually been lost, or was stuck in transit, never picked up, etc. I left the ball at a Fedex drop-box, and no it's not an express box you see on a corner by a strip mall. It's a Fedex drop-box at a grocery store here that is for ground packages, it is supposedly picked up everyday. I talked with customer service at the store and they said it was picked up (though they're about as reliable as a toyota). I was just waiting for Fedex to own up to "we lost it" or "we are sending it" then everything would be good to go. They say it's lost, refund...they say it shipped, he gets his ball everyone ends up happy. I've been working with a claim on Fedex which unfortunately is like waiting in line at the DMV. I've sent all the supporting evidence I have to them and they've admitted fault, but haven't actually approved the claim yet. As soon as they admitted fault, that was the point I was going to send Gene his refund.

Now for the tricky part.....

I spoke with the folks at paypal. They said that Fedex claims the ball is in transit, which means when it is delivered the funds will be released. But, as it stands now the ball probably won't be delivered because it is lost. I asked them about that and they said that when Fedex actually approves the lost claim the funds can be released (refunded) as well, but until then the money will be held because it is still considered in transit. Because he submitted the paypal claim, I couldn't refund the money if I wanted to, it's up to paypal and fedex. I don't know how long that takes or how the process works. I've told them everything I know about the deal and told paypal that fedex admitted fault, but they said it has to be a finished claim. So, unless fedex sends me an email saying it's done, or they find the ball and send it away....both of our money is tied up.
