Bowling bad when it counts in the 10th
« on: December 11, 2008, 12:35:40 PM »
This season, I've been bowling terrible in the 10th when I need a strike for our team to win.  Last year, when I needed a strike to win, I was pretty clutch.  Probably around 80-90% of the time I got it.  But then, this year, I've been terrible.  4 or 5 times in the first half I needed strikes to win, and only 1x I got it.  This week, i was locked in.  Step up in the 10th of the 3rd game, and split.  Didn't go high all night.

Anyone else ever have a time when they just cant get strikes when they need it?  Maybe I need to stop picking on Chris Barnes.  Karma is a b!tch!

I've been having sorta the same issue as you, except it's during singles competition and its my foundation frames. I can go clean all game long and come the 9th frame i'll do something stupid and end up with an open going into the 10th. It's quite frustrating.

It's all about visualization and positive thoughts.  I have fought my mind for years over being too active on the approach, especially when big shots were needed.  The last few weeks I have really made an effort to only think about a few basic thoughts, and once I step on the approach and take my stance to only think to myself what my target is and to "trust my swing".

It has really helped me....

Have to second the comments on positive thinking.  You're probably entering the 10th thinking - "I screwed this up the last 4 times, don't do it again..."
You could be talking to yourself (with historical justification) - " I roll strikes under pressure, 90% of the time..."

Of course, easier said than done.

Good luck!

lol, I just had that feeling tonight, front 9, then I left a bucket to lose the game.

I slowed my speed down and the ball just couldn't recover in time, oh well, next time.

See a Hypnotist.  Tell him when you come up in the 10th, you want to believe you are Norm Duke.  Seriously, 100% mental.

OP I got the same problem.  This past month I have been horrible in the 10th frame.  It all happened after I made fun of Chris Barnes too LOL.
