How do you judge how you are bowling or where you stand in relation to others?

Do you judge yourself by your league average? By how many times you cash? How you bowl compared to your peers? Or some other factor?
I would have got away with it if it was not for those pesky kids (Behind my lane) and those blasted 10 pins.

I judge myself, by what quality of player asks me to bowl with them.
PBA player? top ara bowler? top house bowler?
Average doesn't mean much.

I judge myself by my spare game.I've always had a favorable percentage of strikes but my best years have been when my spare game was over 85%.
Sadly, that is not the case this year. The heavier oils I'm seeing this year has encreased my strike percentage but lowered my spare percentage.
As I don't bowl in three game strike fests very often in favor of longer format qualifiers that fact is costing me prize money.

I don't put much stock in averages anymore unless they are scratch. The handicap leagues and tournaments reward false averages way too much to take seriously.

If I were to judge myself it would be how I shoot on tough conditions.

Excellent question; I use the more consistent higher average bowlers in my town as motivation. However, I know I can roll with them on any given day because I've won multiple city titles and a state title. Using the PBA players isn't fair to me because they are much better, but again they're motivation to get better. Mostly, I try to stay within myself.
