need suggestions please
« on: October 07, 2014, 12:40:31 PM »
My issue is that my arm swing is not staying straight as I come through on my downswing, inother words my arm is bent. I do not know how I started this issue, but my game scores are suffering, along with missed spares. So how do I go about correcting this other than the obvious practice. I have noticed that if I focus on my arm swing I loose concentration on my release and it throws my timing off. I am going to get some buddies of mine to help me at practice, but I just wanted to see if anyone here has any input?

Easiest way I know to straighten out a bent arm is to lead with the inside elbow!

Think of leading with the inside "blade" of your arm as well as the butt of your hand turned outward, working the inside of the ball and leading your arm.... that way will force your arm to straighten.

There is cause and effect.  If you don't figure out what caused you to start doing it and correct that you won't fix the problem.

Normally a bent elbow is started if you have some issues with your wrist, you start bending your elbow to compensate and take some pressure off the wrist or you have been trying to hook the ball more and you bend your elbow to try and get your hand under the ball more.  Those are a couple of examples of maybe why you have started doing it.

I believe you hit the nail on the head ---- I am trying to make the ball hook, instead of letting the ball roll and hook naturally. I need to stop this!!

I would also assume with that you are not following through.  Just throw the ball, let it do the work, and adjust.  Don't worry about getting more revs.
