Switch Grips - Own drill bit
« on: October 07, 2014, 04:54:35 PM »
So here is my story. I went to a Switch Grip in my thumb about 3 years ago. I really like it, especially being able to remove it and put it in my spare ball so I have the exact feel when shooting spares. My issue is I have moved. I just tried to get a ball drilled and I found the the pro shop where I live now, their Switch Grip drill bit is set a little different then where I came from. So my choice was to get all my balls redone using this new drill bit setting, and then possibly run into again if I move again. Or get a new thumb insert. I went with the new insert, but the feel is just so different, I had a hard time switching to my spare ball with the old thumb insert in it. So I was debating on buying my own Switch Grip drill bit that I can just keep with me and keep it set at where my other equipment is. Has anyone else ever done this? It is worth it? I know eventually I would have to get it sharpened, and how does one go about doing that if you aren't working/owning a pro shop? Appreciate your thoughts.

Second, I saw on the Turbo web site there are 3 different types of drill bits. I assume the straight shank is the normal one, but they also have  Gilmac and  #2 Tape Drill. Which is the right one to get? Also, the only place I have seen that carries them is Buddies Pro Shop. Does anyone know any other places that carry them?

Thanks, appreciate your thoughts and help.

Very true!! :)

You might have to call Innovative.  It's worth a call to save about $100...

I should have mentioned that I ordered it over the phone. They'll know what you want when you ask them. Mine came with the collar on it set at the correct depth.
