Twister pins - legal?
« on: December 05, 2008, 12:33:50 AM »
Ok, here's the deal.  My center put Twisters in about 3 months ago.  At first they were nearly impossible - I've seen 10 pins slide into the 7 pin spot.  To solve the "problem" of pins sliding and not falling they put small pads of some sort, under each pin.  Now they fall pretty normally (except the cursed 9 pin, of which I leave about 12 every 3 games).  I'm wondering about that pad.  Is it legal?  I suppose it must be, or they wouldn't be sanctioned, but it seems odd to me.  (WARNING - APPROACHING FIGJAM) BTW, I am averaging 222 on these pins, even with all the 9 pins I'm shooting, so I guess I can't complain too much.

AAAG!!  That's, maybe, the worst part of it.  Sort of sounds like hitting a bucket full of tin cans.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that hates them. Center close to here finally got rid of their grey label Twisters for Linds pins and the difference was night and day to me.

I will admit that I didn't really mind them the year I bowled Nationals at Reno with the newer style Twisters.

Crank, I hate to break it to ya, but last i knew Linds pins were illegal:
Following is a list of non-conforming pins that cannot be used in USBC certified competition as of June 20, 2006.

Winsome permit #s
#357 (Leaf)

#397 (VIA)

#401 (Linds)

#402 (Smart Pin)

The permits for the above pins manufactured after Jan. 26, 2006 have been revoked.
