Out of the array of new stuff coming out, what ball is the one being most looked forward to being drilled up for you?
-
Code Red and Marvel Pearl
-
Black Quantum & Hot Cell
-
Hot Cell screams clearance off the name alone.
-
Cherry vibe, and the inferno 2 balls i loved in the past although none of the remakes seem to match the originals.
-
It's a toss up between the Ninja Pearl or a Covert Ops. Inception DCT I'm on the fence about and Honey Badger is a possibility in my book.
-
Roto grip show off and hustle ink
-
Not sure if or when I'm drilling the Marvel Pearl so I'll say Code Red.
-
Seismic Axion..
-
how about something with the Sigma core. That would be nice ;D
-
Well, looks like I'll have to decide on 2 to drill.
Really like the Black Quantum, Inferno, Rumor, Creed, Freak Show Flip, Blue Vibe, and EBI has a few more balls to be announced as well.
My mind keeps coming back to the Black Quantum, something about it has an allure for the way I throw the ball.
-
Just for reference, here they are (not counting any new color options for current balls):

_____________________________
That's 27 from the "big" names, with more to come from EBI and probably Storm... :o
-

Still waiting. Not seen any must haves yet. May work out to buy the stuff going on closeout I've had success with this past season.

Cool. Maybe something to replace the Primal Rage Remix? Can't believe that one has stuck around for a while after some of the other newer releases have already been retired.
The Tag Cannon is really interesting to me too. Cleaner AND stronger off the spot than the Tag? Sounds ridiculous, but also like a lot of fun when you can use it.
-
I am looking forward to the Motiv Tag Cannon that will be coming out the middle of next month.

I know it is a smaller/new company, but Monster Bowling also has the Kraken and Boogieman coming out. I picked up the Lochness Monster out of curiosity, so I will likely get these two as well.
Out of the bigger companies, I'm going to pick up the Honey Badger next. Interested to see what kind of reaction I get in 14lbs with the lower differential.
-
Amazing 20 new balls wtf.Starting to get ridiculous if you ask me.Whos buying all these balls.Recycled cores with a different color.Sucker born everyday I guess. And all I ever hear is oh the ball companies aren't making any money. When does this insanity stop?

the two new ones from monster are going to be good. i demoed them the kraken has a similar shape and strength the an OG virtual gravity. the boogieman has a modified 2fast/2furious core with a hybrid cover i believe. its like a weaker version of a hyroad.i rarely have a use for a ball like the kraken but i LOVED the boogieman.

Why would you want to stop a multi million dollar per year business?
-
Because the ROI when you make a quality product will make you more money than making a bunch of products that will be discontinued in 6 months. The cost to make a new core and R&D is stupid high. Make a well thought-out product, and you will make more money than "Let's saturate the market!!"

Na bruh, youth bowling is on the upswing and a lot of these parents are shelling out big bucks to get the latest and greatest.

Truth. My son does not lack for equipment. Although it's a mixture of old and new. More often than not, I grab good stuff on closeout.
-
Yea my son is 5 and I just purchased a NIB Viral Solid under 45.00 it is a 10lb.

Your son is 5 and is throwing 10 lbs? You might be stretching things a bit here. My kids are 7, 5, and 5 and they're using 6...

But there is something to be said for marketing. Joe Consumer sees a HyRoad on the shelf, hear it's a great ball, and goes to buy it next season.
They also hear that the Break is a great ball, but by the time normal people get around to buying a ball (not us junkies who probably put on our phone calendar the release dates), it's been the Eagle, then the Ops line. Same freaking ball, 3 different names. People don't see it, so they pick something else. Good product shouldn't be renamed. Make a name and stand by it. A Black Break today would sell just as much as it did 9 years ago. Remember Nitros and Turbos and Rhinos and Thunders? The name sold it because it had a reputation. Explaining that "this ball is exactly the same ball, just different name" doesn't make the consumer confident.

Just tell them to throw "man weight". :o :o :P

I'm still stockpiling Gamebreaker 2s. No time for this new ball stuff.
-
That's a good plan for a great and tested ball.
-

This is good to hear. I'm going to buy the Kraken just to have it, but it is the Boogieman I am more looking forward to. I bowled 4 leagues the past 2 years, so if I do the same again (or at least 3), I'm going to dedicate one league to just Monster balls.

All these new balls coming out means that the clearance racks are going to be nice and full when league season starts... At least that's how I look at it. ;D
-
Every company wants some new releases to show off at Bowl Expo. When you consider that 20 balls, or whatever the number is, are being released at this time frame it's not that crazy. It happens every year.
-
Funny how the staffers always say I see nothing wrong with all these new releases.Of course not, nice to throw new balls every few months when you get them free for praising how great they are.As a non staffer its a joke.Half the balls that are on companies ball charts are discontinued. If they were any good they would still be hanging around.
-
having a blast this summer with a Special Ops and Desert Ops
so glad I gave 900G a try again
already pre-ordered a Honey Badger, and debating between a Covert Ops or Black Ops now
-
But.....all of these new releases are around 3-4 boards stronger than their predecessors.
-
I wonder how many more times we'll be able to handle new release that are 3-4 boards stronger. There are only 40 boards on the lane :) Stronger balls, different oils... vicious cycle.
-
You know who loses in all this? The PSO. Having to keep limited stock because it's going to be discontinued in 6 months is horrible for business.

Yep that is the real problem with this. PSO just can't juggle all this stock. My PSO operator has really been complaining more since the last two wave of releases from EBI. He just can't move the old stock at all or fast enough!

It's a challenge for sure. Going one step further, it's probably a challenge for the distributors, too. It seems to be the way now.
How many times on this site are people asking "what's next"? Suggesting what they'd like to see... Even before new releases are on the market, they want to know what's next?
We, the bowlers, tend to over-analyze everything. We talk about core numbers, etc, as if we could really tell one from the other on the lanes. I believe that as long as HUMANS are the ones rolling the balls, we will always need to "buffer" any conversation with the reality of the "human element".
Yes, drilling up a new ball will always be fun. We probably, however, should put less emphasis on the ball and more on rolling it consistently. A great ball in the hands of a great bowler is tough to beat, but every ball isn't going to match up with every bowler. Find your "A game" and then purchase balls that compliment that style; nothing more and nothing less.
Taking 6 balls to bowl on a THS is ridiculous in my mind. They drag them in, throw one or two, and then drag them out. I take one "straight" ball and two "crooked" ones (and figure if I can't make it work most of the time then the problem lies with me and not a ball).
How many times have you seen that guy who brought 6 balls to league actually throw them all? If he did then he NEVER got lined up, and once again, the problem probably was not with any of the balls but more likely the guy throwing them lousy that particular night.
THERE IS NO MAGIC BALL. (Sorry to disappoint.) Complain all you want about the new releases, or the old releases, or everything else under the sun if it makes you happy. You can "wish" in one hand and spit in the other and then see which hand has the most in it. ;)
-
The guy brought 6 balls to league so they could all be together! #noballleftbehind
-
I bowl with a donkey in the fall that does this. He brings six balls, averages a hair over 190 on a condition that's been the same for the last 8 years. We know what to expect.
-
He might break deuce if he adds 3 more.
-
I actually finally figured out what ball and a general idea of a drilling I needed for my game on what I bowl on. Had a kinetic emerald drilled up for length and moderate back end. A month and a half later in two different houses and two leagues, it is the only ball I have thrown this whole time. Bring 4 balls to league, and I don't bring out the other three. Averaging better than I ever have in both houses and I am not even considering ball changes for carry because I know I can make this ball work. And keep in mind that I never know the conditions I will see
-
I'm kinda liking the look of the new Brunswick Magnum 035 or whatever it's called :)
-
Just seen on Facebook the new motiv ball will be the "forza ss".... Red and black... 8/23/17 release

I could get into a new Forza, as long as they don't pull another "Red Line" on us...

He throws two handed. If he was a one hander he probably would still be throwing 6Lbs. The ball comes Wednesday and i will post him throwing it. If you go on my facebook page you will see him slinging 8Lbs. with ease.

Word finally out on the Kinetic Ruby from bowl expo. Supposed release date is 7/11 with the QR-6 solid cover 500/2000 box surface
-
Seen the Matrix but they are still hush about it. Or at least I didn't hear anything...

Retro balls are all the Rage!
(Someone bring back the Rage series. Outrage in particular.)

Outrage was a great ball. Shot 800 on the dot with it!
-
Motiv Primal Rage Remix is pretty close in performance to the old Col. Rage series. Good skid flip even for weak handed bowlers
-
There's a blue/black/silver EBI ball that everyone is raging about. It's noticeably way more angular than every other ball being tested. There's a brief Facebook clip of Amleto throwing it and it looked really impressive.

That's one of the mystery balls they have at Expo for testing and feedback. Most people they have talked to like it better than the shiny one..
