Has anybody used that Hook-Again stuff?
« on: January 02, 2008, 12:42:26 PM »
I'm just curious if it actually does anything.
My Resurgence has lost something. I started noticing a difference in it a couple months ago but never give it much thought. I recently got a Momentum for Christmas & this ball is about 10+ boards stronger than my Resurgence. Both balls are basically drilled the same & I don't know what else could be wrong with it. I thought I'd been doing a good job of cleaning it but I guess not. I've also got a TNV, which is about 6 months older & has seen a lot more action. And it reacts as good as new.
Don't get me wrong, it still hooks & hits like crazy but it is definitely not the strongest ball in my bag anymore.

Then leave it in there longer than the recommended time... If the customer has the time, it doesn't hurt to leave the ball in there for 2-3 days.
Works best when paired with resurfacing and the ball is placed in the compound at 220-400 grit.

It tends to work better with newer balls with 100-200 games on them, just starting to lose reaction. Balls several years old are too far gone to help. We've done many with success.

I have used the Hook Again treatment with good results.  The pro shop I use usually leaves the ball in for several days.

The pro shop said in their experience some companies/covers have better results than others.

In my experience, putting the ball in the Rejuvenator / Revivor, or giving it a hot water bath works the best.

The Momentum and Total NV are made for less oil than the Resurgence.  More than likely, the Resurgence is burning up or rolling out.  Heavy oil balls often look like dogs when thrown on too little oil.  Unless you are strongly speed dominant, a Resurgence is overkill on most house shots.  With little oil outside of 10 and 20-25 feet of dry boards, you're wasting a ball like a Resurgence.  Find a heavy shot where the TNV and Momentum skid a bunch, then throw the Resurgence.  If it's no better, it needs some TLC.  If it's suddenly stronger than the other two, you'll know you were throwing on too little oil before.
