Title: 2014 Bowl Expo
Post by: EL3MCNEIL on June 22, 2014, 09:01:07 AM
The 2014 Bowl Expo starts this week. Is there anything anyone is excited about this year? Or have all the early releases already spoiled everything?

I was wondering were Ebonite fits in that line up, they usually defer to the other three.
Wonder if they are going to do like C300 and have something between the source/legacy and the Cyclones..

I wonder if storm is going to bring 900G on board as full sister company.

Or if there's going to be some more old ball revivals.

IMHO Hammer has been screaming the loudest from under the EBI Umbrella. I like all the stuff they've been showing, but I hope they show some stuff from the "Blood" Line because they intrigue me.

Is it just me or did it seem underwhelming?

I don't know if it was announced there, but the Decimate and Torch look good. In fact, the whole 900/AMF fall lineup looks good.

From what i am hearing, EBI has some great pieces coming out now through the fall.
the players supposedly very happy with the pieces
take Billy O. for example
did pretty well with 1 ball for the most part in the summer swing (multiple drilled differently surface/layout)
used on all the patterns and arguably pretty successful

the BW legend is supposed to be all that and then some
incredible buzz about it

from what I have been told from a fellow staffer, no. 900G is still considered a rival company. Storm bought the plant, not the actually company from what I was told. Just what I was told.

WHile you are right that (not sure how this works on a corporate level) that 900Global will "continue to operate as an independent business, with Mike Sellers overseeing day-to-day operations.",
I believe you are wrong to assume they only bought an interest in the manufacturing plant. While that was probably their true objective, they actually bought a >50% interest in 900Global itself to do that. Here's their exact quote from the Strom web site:
"Brigham City, Utah - Utah's Bill and Barbara Chrisman announced today that they have made an investment in Global Manufacturing, the San Antonio, Texas based bowling ball manufacturer.

Global Manufacturing, established in 2007, manufactures and distributes products featuring the 900 Global and 3G Shoes brand names, in addition to several other bowling ball brands.

The company will continue to operate as an independent business, with Mike Sellers overseeing day-to-day operations.

"Global Manufacturing and their employees have extensive experience in bowling ball production," said Bill Chrisman. "Barbara and I are happy to play a role in the company's future."

Point being, we can't throw 900G as Storm staffers. They are a rival company. Thanks

Finally able to catch up on this. And I have to say that my mind is slowly starting to change about Storm.

Not really as much as their products go, but about their mindset as a company, and how they operate. To that rate, I am impressed.

Also, by doing full panel interviews at Bowl Expo with their reps? It stumps me completely that others really hadn't thought of doing that. Yes, they may do a little 3 - 4 minute clip or so, but nothing like a full panel, and not even completely focused on products. They talked about success, failures, family, family atmosphere instead of corporatocracy.. and yet, you really don't hear from other companies there. Yes, I see clips from Radical, Lord Field, Lanemasters, and Motiv.. but I see nothing else from any of the other major companies there (at least in searching youtube).

Storm is putting on a pretty good show right now. Very impressive.
