How about if all the ball makers ran/owned the proshops ?

That way there, there is no b!tching over cheap proces on the net.

The companies that made the products also owned and ran the shops ?

Yes or No ?

But, that would mean that I would have a different ball driller for each brand that I wanna throw.

What about us "smaller areas" where there's only one pro shop ? Who would want to only get one brand of ball ? Which brand ?

I agree with your line of thought, just wouldn't work, IMO.

Well you have different dealers for different brands of new cars ?

I guess if you think of it that way, then yes.  But, I like my equipment fitting very close.  Not to mention that my driller knows my game and what I need.  Do you think this would translate over with the new theory?

pop that would be the biggest problem...I'm not sure how to work that one out.

...but it would be great with each company under-cutting each other..lol

In reality though, only the biggest /strongest companies would survive..

Back to the drawing board.

Ford and Chevy going to own all the car dealerships?

Maytag going to own all the appliance stores?

Toro going to own all the lawnmover stores?

Nike going to own all the shoe stores?

The whole idea of a Super type store, is to have a large variety!!!!
Just from reading post on this site,  one can easily see, that so many don't like brand B, or Brand C, or brand L,  So do you really think a store selling only Brand L, or Brand B will make it.

Now back to bowling.  And just where do you think a ball company is going to store all of this msde.  Without Distributor's warehouses???
Ball companies use Dist. as warehouses,  When a new release comes out, Dist. many times have the balls in their warehouses before the actual release date to the pro shops. 15-20, dist, each maybe with 300-500 of the new release.  That's a lot of warehouse space!!!!  Without Dist, ball companies would have to store these balls, which means they would need more warehouse space.  And that would drive the cost per ball up.

So it is much easier for a company to simply set a floor price on their equipment.

Yeah, that would sort of be like a monopoly.

I have a great relationship with my pro shop to lose these guys would stink, i think the prices would go up to retail and there would no longer be ball deals. Free enterprise is how the market is driven, sometimes there are so called pro shops that should not have a drill press they are so bad.

The bad apples make the whole industry get a big black eye, I can tell you weekly the gouging i hear from the 2 leagues I bowl at. The casino owned pro shop's are horrible and price gouge the bowler, i am lucky to have such a great shop to work with when i do need anything handled.
