Worst feeling in bowling
« on: July 12, 2005, 05:23:44 AM »
Thought I would counter the very good "best feeling in bowling" post with its counterpart, the worst feeling in bowling...

I have 2...

1) the 3rd of 3 non-strike shots in a row, this tells me I have to move...NOW

2) the stone 8 pin (yes, i'm right-handed)...I can deal with stone 9s, some of those can be attributed to lanes breaking down/backends flying too much, but stone 8s, there's just nothing you can do about those.

Knowing you need to strike in the 9th frame of the final game in a qualifying block to double and make the cut, having the ball leave your hand clean, hitting your target perfectly, hitting the breakpoint perfectly, burying the ball in the pocket, seeing a solid 10 pin (I'm left-handed, BTW), and missing the cut by 12 sticks.

That will make you wanna puke.  At least, that's how I felt...

How about this one.I was already into my last step to release the the ball. The ball 15LBS of it slip off as I going to release it drop into my left foot going into the gutter on the right side. That is the first frame and spare after that. It was embarrassing at first but more so when my wife was watching. Ouch and double ouch as well. I finish with a 184 game.
I hate ten pins but love the game of bowling with just the right ball to take them out.

Those one or two stone 8s or 9s that turn 700 into 680... I'm still waiting on that first sanctioned 700

Taking out the 6 and the 9 out the rack on the first ball.
Playing on a real Sport shot and cutting it off short and chipping off the 7 pin.

(This happens way too much where I bowl)  When you roll a perfect shot and the ball crushes the pocket but then you see the 6 pin slide over into the 7 pin slot, and you lose the match because of it.

Or,

My friend rolled an 867 set.

first 10 left a weak 10

first 10 left a weak 10

first 10 left a weak 10

(And he has never had a 300 in his life)

Being faced with a 3-6-10 after a hit on the nose, and taking out ONLY the 6 for the spare. TWICE in one single game! ARGH!!! At least, some consitency to the shot.

Finally figuring out the shot in a recent 5 gamer scratch tournament during game three, only to give away any chance of making the cut by having 6 straight opens for the first time in probably 15 years and throwing a 126 game....

Or last winter bowling in my Tuesday night league, continually making minor adjustments to try to carry the 7 pin and leaving 8 7 pins in one game (at least I covered them all).

I get the worst feeling when I can't get right what my coach says. It's really frustrating.

Knowing that there is a great shot out there tonight and the aproaches are that sticky that you cant finish your slide in the same spot twice in a row.
Stick aproaches the only thing I cant sort out, I hate them......
