Just once.....
« on: July 12, 2005, 06:08:23 AM »
I would like to see ANY staffer for ANY company tell you in a new ball review that the ball sucks.  Why bother posting reviews as a staffer?  You know it's going to be pretty much a positive review.  Tell the truth if it is a dud.  Don't let others stumble into the pit because you are a staffer and therefore aren't allowed to say anything negative about the ball. Just a little grumbling.  Go ahead and fire away....I fully expect it.

Some balls are overpriced and over-hyped....for everything else...there is RotoGrip.

Well, there are almost never true "dud" balls to begin with.  And even if there are, they always work for someone....

My 2 cents.

A staff player can´t say a ball sux. They get sponsored to play with some companys balls so they cant say those balls are bad. The company wants that people uses the same balls as the staff players.
And some staff players test at least 4-5 diffrent layouts on the ball so it fits their own game.
And there is NO BAD Ball. You can play with any ball, but you hve to adjust its surface etc so it fits your own game.
If you have a drilling and the ball dosent move then try redrill it before you say the ball is bad.

People are to interested in new balls and equipment that the forget the tecnices.
I have trained archery for more than half of my life (at least 8 years).
And something we use to say is, directly translated from Swedisch, "You can´t buy points".
You can buy a bow and stuff for over $2000, but just because you have the best it dosen´t mean you are the best.

TO answer it plain and simple, most staffers are good enough to the point that they make everything look good.  That's why they're on staff.

While there aren't "bad" balls, there are some that don't work for certain people.  No matter how good a staffer is he will run into a few.  They never post a review saying "This ball didn't work for me, but under these circumstances it might be good".  If a ball doesn't work they just don't talk about it.

Not to hijack the thread but I do own both the Omega 1 and the Omega LM and like them a lot. Just until both have become 10 pin leaving machines.

I have moved them to the reserves equipment list.

I have to agree there are no really bad balls, some work for you... some don't. But it certainly doesn't mean they won't work for someone. Right ak57 :-)

My 2 cents is done...

You already know this, but...if a staffer did that, they wouldn't be on staff much longer.  Not only that, but they'd have a tough time getting another ball contract.
