Title: 5-Man lineup
Post by: AlonzoHarris on August 20, 2017, 03:17:29 PM
With leagues starting back up, I'm thinking a lineup change for one of the teams I'm the captain on. I would love to hear if anyone has a certain method they like to follow with their line ups?

The Leadoff would be the person who the rest of the team could get a really good read off of lane condition wise and was ultra consistent.

2nd Place would be either a lefty with the same quality or a guy who was for lack of a better term the weak link.

3rd Would be the guy who could make sure to put together a strong game and set things up for the set up and anchor bowlers. Also must be a good spare shooter.

4th would be the second strongest bowler and a bowler who could really put up some numbers. Great spare shooter and clutch bowler for the 9th frame.

5th The most consistent and talented player who could make shots under pressure and also read what the other guys are doing and make quick adjustments.

I like when the lead off guy is the high average on the team. A guy who will strike a lot amf get the team in the right mindset for a good frame. Someone who is around 240 on the house shot. From there your weakest bowler in the 2 hole so he can be motivated after a good start. Plus he can get help that bowler before shots. 3rd spot to 5th spot lined up in order of handling pressure.

Attended a HS coaching seminar few years back with Carolyn dorin Ballard, she made it pretty simple.
This is how I took it
1. Accurate and consistent- ability to read the lanes and understand  breakdown can be highest avg bowler and communicate with rest team
2. Lefty / consistent spare shooter, ability to read lane
3. You lowest avg bowler
4. Highest strike % able to play multiple lines
5. Usually highest avg bowler, ability to make shots under pressure
