6th spot in my bag
« on: April 27, 2018, 08:55:03 AM »
Looking to fill the 6th spot in my bag for some upcoming european bowling tour tournaments. 6 ball maximum since I'll be going on international flights.

5 set ball are
Visionary - The Crow
Roto - Daredevil trick
Storm - Hyroad Nano
Storm - Hyroad
Plastic spare ball

I usually like stronger covers, we always bowl on fresh and rarely under 24 ml. and never more than 6 games before reoiling in qualifying and I have no worries of my Hyroad not handling the burn for me.

There is no asym in there but not really sure I need it. Definitely on the radar though. Probably don't need the Roto Idol in there but that ball sure looks like a must have.

The balls on my Radar are:
Idol
Code X
Honey Badger
Fused
Dream on
Ink - kind of on my radar but I think the cover is a little to weak for my liking. Haven't seen anybody throw it in person
Marvel Pearl/Soniq

I know there are some good options from EBI and Brunswick as well but I've decided I don't wanna bother spending the time researching all the companies and guessing how they'll compliment each other.

Also have at home but probably won't be coming with me abroad since I rarely think they are my best option:
Radical tremendous (that thing lane shines in a hurry)
Storm Code red
AMF Sumo
Rotogrip grenade

Looks like you have most of your bases covered so you should be in great shape to encounter just about any conditions. Without knowing your style (speed, rev rate, etc) here are a couple observations that you're currently lacking and may want to consider:

A) heavy oiler asymmetric. You mention that you don't think you'll need an asymmetric, and I'm guessing your DDT is your heaviest oil option. However you may want something with a higher diff. to cover more boards before going to your DDT. Idol and Code X would fill that gap.
B) low differential solid. You mention that you prefer stronger covers, which you have plenty of, but perhaps a low differential option like the Hustle INK or IQ Tour Solid could come in handy.
C) pearl coverstock. Sounds like you don't prefer pearl coverstocks, but something that can give you more length than your Hy-road could be beneficial. Hy-road Pearl, Soniq, Marvel Pearl are great options.

You’ve got two smooth fresh oil options in the Nano and Trick, a break down ball in the Hyroad, and a when-needed in urethane. IMO, what you’re missing is the ability to jump left and attack before you reach your Hy-Road late block.

Something like a No Rules Pearl, Soniq, etc.

That was my thinking in adding the Fused, Soniq, Marvel Pearl in the equation even though my Hyroad Nano is pretty spot when going into 4th arrow territory

Forgot to mention. Slightly rev dominant two hander who likes straighter angles. Urethane and DDT are by far my most favorite bowling balls.

I had an Iq tour and Loco Solid but gave them back to my PSO who just converted to two handed who will probably also get my code red. Don't think the IQ is the answer for me as it was flat ten city with it and I rely on my DDT for those occasions. Even though I'm rev dominant I rarely have a problem with getting enough length.

I would recommend a Dream On to almost anyone.

I agree the look you're lacking is something making a bit more commanding turn on the end when moving into 4th-5th arrow. Fused, No Rules Pearl, Son!Q.

I personally would skip the INK, IQ Tour, Idol, and Phaze 2 for that spot as they seem like they would have too much overlap with the existing bag.

Dream On and Code X would also be options for a more commanding turn if the Nano or Trick are too smooth, but the Fused, NRP, or Son!Q were skidding too much.

The Marvel Pearl can be quite smooth and I feel like you could play the same line with the Hy-Road or Hy-Road Nano and shape up enough to carry.
Current Rotation:
PhysiX
Code X
Code Black
Axiom Pearl
Phaze III
Trend
IQ Tour

An earlier poster stated the Marvel Pearl is longer than the Hy-Road and I couldn't disagree more. But I would suggest an asym "pearl"
League: Pitch Purple, Destiny Magenta
Testing: MVP
Interests: Black Widow, Proof Solid, Idol Pearl

I concur. except for the ink which I haven't seen in person the Hyroad should be the longest of all the balls listed. Leaning towards the fused or dream on over the Intense or no rules pearl.
