I don't really care for no-tap but it's more sour grapes than anything else.  I shot several real 600s long before I had a no-tap 600.  I shot an 810 no-tap a couple of years ago at our end-of-league awards night and won a few bucks, but that's the only time I've bowled well no-tap.  Usually it's 550 or so.

I will say this. I was doing well until the last game and then only ended up with 688. I knew I wasn't going to win any money so I just left.
At least it was scratch. Handicap 9 pin no tap is seriously a joke. I shot 840 once handicap and only got 3rd place one year because I only had a 5 handicap from a 210 cap.

There was a guy on my pair that is a very good bowler. Suprised no one in the house shot a 300 but he came close a couple of times.
Then there was another guy on his team that averages like 160-170 or whatever. He was getting nose hits, light hits and brooklyns. Seemed like every ball he would get a 9 count.

My problem with 9 pin no tap? Let's see these lower average bowlers make single pin spares. That's the difference between Mr.170 average bowler make 7's and 10 pins vs Mr.200+ average bowler like myself make them and find out who wins.

I just don't understand the fascination with no tap. Can we have a real sweeper straight up? Jeez!

Also, it sure would be much more intereting if it was a colored pin sweeper. Course I wouldn't bother bringing it up because it would be too complicating and I bet my house doesn't have any colored pins anyways.

How gay is it if you win a nine tap tourney and first place is a cool couple grand? Not so gay now is it.

Not gay at my house. They put out the old USBC pattern. No room outside of 5 and drier toward the middle. Not easy at all.

No, your problem with no-tap is that you are thinking it is in any way related to honest bowling.  "Let's see these guys make single-pin spares" is uppity-bowler code for "they're completely ignoring my l33t skills picking up single-pins and I'm pissed off about it".

As I see no tap is that it's bowling and I love to bowl no matter the rules. Hell, don't 95% of the people here on BR bowl handicap leagues. That's just bowling with a little rules twist. I say we're all gay because we don't bowl scratch leagues.

I bowled a handicapped no tap tourney a few years back. Walked in and looked at the leaderboard. First in singles was like 989.Hadn't even thrown a ball and knew that even if I had thrown 3 300 games with my handicap of may 10 I had no chance at winning.

No, sounds like his problem is "darn, these 170 guys are throwing plastic, straight and hard, and getting 9.  I'm throwing $200 ball with a big hook, but I can't read the pattern.....opps, I mean, these plastic balls are screwing the lane, and I'm leaving 3 or 4 pin spares, splits, and totally unfair leaves.  Don't the pins know that I'm a better bowler than these guys?!?!"

A plastic ball bowler that has a 170's average is actually not a bad bowler.
