Help w/ Ball
« on: February 05, 2010, 03:09:08 PM »
I'm looking to add another ball to my bag, something to fit between my Mutant Cell and Onyx Vibe, both drilled strong pin up positions. I was thinking a strong pearl or hybrid or something, but im not sure. any suggestions on what to look into? thanks!

Why not do a Pearl with a weak drilling. You already have 2 ball's with strong layout's with different surface's. You can definately use a weaker peice in the bag for when the lane's break down between the middle of 2nd game and start of the 3rd.

I would do a virtual energy with a 5 1/2 x 5 drilling pin up with maybe 4k abralon. Or you could always try a gravity shift if you can find one and do a 5 x 5 1/2 pin up. Another option is the roto grip nomad pearl and do a 5 x 5. But, if you could provide us with your specs like ball speed, revs, axis tilt and pap we could better help you.

Black Widow Nasty.  I have it and an Onyx Vibe and they compliment each other well.  Absolutely love my Nasty!

What did you not like about it?  Too strong, too weak, too angular at the breakpoint?  Remember that demo balls are not drilled to your axis point and are not very clean at times so hard to get a true sense of what the balls capabilities are.

I found that it wasn't as clean through the heads as i would like and the backend was weak, but that was just my opinion

If that is the case, then maybe consider something like a Freeze.  The Freeze has a higher end cover but a weaker core so it will help the ball push down lane and give you good backend reaction.  Another ball to consider is a Python also has a fairly stronger cover but weaker core to help with push through the heads and save energy for the backend.
