I just picked up a scream on clearance. Placed the cg in palm and pin about a half inch above ring finger. Made a really nice hard arc to the pocket. I love this reaction. It does remind me of urethane of old.  I think the pitch black is more condition specific. I think the scream is more versatile. But then, I chose this over the pitch black. It also saved me money on the pocket book. I plan on getting a shout since it's a solid and can use that in the first game or so and knowing I can go to the scream when I need more length as the shot breaks down.

It depends on what you consider hooking lanes? Are the heads burnt? Backends on fire? 30 feet of oil?

Track_Fanatic I was already considering picking up the solid for the reason you mention.  Impending Doom the Backends were on fire and now that mention it seems the pattern was short, how much do not know.

Urethane has its place, and works well on shorter patterns.

I love my shout (2012) currently the same finish as the new one, 'polished solid'....

I love busting this out! Tons of length and a nice controllable move to the pocket.  It makes my uproar look strong!
In the bag [Infinite Physix, Volatility Torque, Night Road, Phaze III, Burner Solid, Hustle AU]

Right now even though I have only 5 games on it I like what I'm seeing could've had an Pitch Black but chose the Scream.

I love urethane, but it is more condition specific than just being a dry lane ball.  By that I mean that urethane is most valuable when you can go relatively straight with it.  If you are forced to cover boards, it losses its hitting power quickly, even for a high rev player.  Best luck I have had with urethane is on medium length THS where the heads are hooking outside 10, but there is plenty of hold in the mids at 10.  For conditions where you have to get in and go away from the pocket, their are better resin options.
