Title: ? on dishwasher cleaning method

when doing this do u add anything to the dishwasher or do u simply set the ball in and just use the water

Normal cycle, strait water. Juat remeber to turn off the dry cycle. Method works really well.

I add a little liquid Dawn but not much. As has already been said, turn off the heated drying option first.

I've done both with dishwasher detergent and without.  I'd recommend going without as the chemicals are a little harsh...but it is a bowling ball, not a Faberg'e Egg.

I have done the dishwasher method for years with many balls.  It does seem to work. I use dawn liquid soap not a dishwasher specific soap. I place holes down and tape over the holes to eliminate as much water from hitting the inert material as possible. I do stop the dishwasher a couple times, use a brissel brush and scrub the outside of the ball. Another thing I have done is to take the surface to 240 wet sand to open up the pores better. Then I resurface after.

I dont see that there is much difference between this method and the Mo Pinel water bath scrub brush method. As stated be sure the drying option is off and remove from dishwasher asap ... dont let it stay hot any longer than necessary.

Not that I've seen.

Note: Don't run dirty dishes at the same time you do the ball.

My dishwasher runs cold first and I think it heats up a quarter of the way through the first cycle.  Is that potentially harmful since the water is changing temperatures?  I've thought of just waiting until the water is heated up, is that the best idea?

It helps if you sand the ball below 500 grit before you wash it.

My dishwasher had a SUPER WASH option.  It heated up the water more than normal.
