I have just been informed that Don Johnson (the Kokomo Kid) has passed away. I don't have all the details, but I was told that he passed away at his home.
We've got to grow some more great ones - we're losing the older ones too quickly.
A sad day indeed.

One advantage of bowling over golf
is that you seldom lose the ball.

Yes it is sad. And he was one of the world's great bowlers.
I can still see him laying on the approach after leaving a single pin for 299 on TV.
-
I still recall watching the live ABC television telecast of the tournament where Don shot his now famous 299 game.....I can still see him dropping to the approach in agony over missing out on the 300 game. For the younger set, this 299 game happened back in the days when a televised 300 game was unheard of.

in his day-he was the MAN

Dont swing it-if you cant bring it
When in doubt-swing it out

I wish I would have had the opportunity to see him bowl. God bless him & my condolences to his family.

Great bowler, great person. I have one of his balls still NIB, the plastic 75-82. Think I'll just put it back in the closet instead of selling it.
My condolences to his great family.
