Ball choices

Ok, I'm pretty certain that most of us have more than 1 ball.

When you are putting a 3 or 4 ball bag together, how do you choose? Do you choose how fast or slow response they are? Surface? Different shapes?

Reason I ask is because where I'm at, there are 2 houses. 1 I can not use fast response balls at. Not because they're too snappy, they just just don't read the pattern correctly at all.

Conversely, the other house, I can't use slower response balls because you have to go around the pattern. Can't play up the track with urethane and slower response stuff just doesn't make it up the hill for how I have to cut the heads.

So I'm creating a bag to take to each place. 1 with a Booyah, X and Darkness, the other bag is Black Ops, Drift and Night Hawk SE.

If you can't play everywhere from the gutter to 4th arrow you have no business needing a bunch of equipment.  I change equipment looking for carry after I find where the lanes need to be played for my style.  Too many people try to find the ball that will let them play in their comfort rather than moving on the lane.

You know, this brings up a interesting point. The other day, I was practicing and right of 15 was a mess. Early hook, them hang, then potluck. Guy on the left of me was trying to keep it right in the track and his frustration level was through the roof.

So me, being me, said "let's practice lofting the left gutter!" And I'm literally standing in the left lanes right gutter. I'm obviously not running.up on the guy or double jumping him, but he looks at me and says "What the heck.do.you think you're doing?" I'm practicing. "For what?" When there is no shot right of 15. "Well, stay off of my approach." It's actually mine while I'm taking my shot.

He shut up and just shot me dirty looks after that.

LOL I've had people say the same thing to me. When I actually go to practice I try to play the gutter for a game and play deep for a game.

Thus old guy doesn't get enough revs to loft gutter caps, so that is the hole in my game.  Fortunately, short formats or bowling primarily senior events lessens my need to play such angles

I keep a 3 ball bag that covers me for most conditions.  A plastic spare ball, and two medium condition balls.  One is smoother rolling, the other more angular.  In the car, I keep another 2 ball bag containing a stronger/earlier rolling ball, and a much weaker, longer ball.  Generally these are not needed, but available.
