Was humbled last night! Need suggestions.
« on: December 05, 2003, 11:26:51 PM »
Well it finally happened and spent the rest of the night looking for a shot. I had good first game: 237, Clean game, four spares (all 10 pins).

Next Game: 9/  X  9/ X  9/  X   9/  X  8/  71 for 185. All 9 counts were 10 pins. The 8 leave in the 9th was trying a different ball (Wicked).

The last game I had four opens (2 of them splits and the other two were missed 10 pins) for a 158. I was trying different lines and switching balls. I was lost, real lost.

First and Second Games I was using my Cuda/C (Dull finish). I noticed as I got into the second game that it was breaking little further down lane. I made few board adjustments. I was still getting to the pocket but the ball just didn't seem to finish.

Almost all strikes from the End of the 2nd game and in the 3rd game were tripped fours and stuff like that (Real sloppy strikes). My 9 count shots looked better than my strikes. I just couldn't figure it out!

I went my particle ball the third game (Reaction Roll). And moved right and try to play a tighter line: Almost straight to the pocket. It just appeared to me that I was experiencing some kind of carry down.

Is there a better approach to this?
 - Change Release (more side roll)
 - Speed
 - Change to a different Ball
 - Move and play a totally different line

sounds to me like the balls you were trying were rolled out.loss of energy to the pins.I would of went with a pearl even if you have to point it to the pocket.
The harder I try the harder they fall

I agree with six pack on the ball burning out before it hit the pins. You also might be pulling your follow-through causing the ball to lose it's drive toward the pocket, make sure your follow-through is at 90 degrees to your body. If you follow through at less than 90 degrees -o\ (right hander)the ball will not hit the pocket with enough drive to carry out the 10 pin due to loss of leverage. If you follow-through with more than 90 degrees -o/ your hand will come from farther behind the ball and have more hook than what is needed and run the head pin, also causing you to think that it was a good shot and you adjust inside only to find that the lane is not dry enough to play from there, then you get more lost.

Check your follow-through before you make any adjustments. Learn to get the feel of when you do it right and when you do it wrong, then you will not make an adjustment based on a bad shot.
