Aleta / Michelle Coaching Clinic
« on: October 30, 2003, 12:28:18 AM »
I have signed up for a coaching clinic given by Aleta Sill and Michelle Mullen and was wondering if anyone has attended their clinic.  I am normally a mid 190  bowler, medium speed, medium revs.  My average is down about 20 pins from previous years.  I carry a Phenom, Fusion, and Caos (have multiple 300 with this ball, can't seem to get rid of it).

Let me know if anyone has used them and if it will be worth the money ($59).
Thanks.

I attended one of her (Michelle Mullen) clinics when she was working under PBI.  I wanted to ask for my money back.  There was her and one other instructor for close to 20 students.  And we spent probably at least half the time in the classroom watching tapes of everyone in the clinic bowling.  At the time I was averaging about 185-190 and got no benefit from watching a 120 avg woman with 3 revs on video.  The actual one on one time was great, but in 4 hours I think I got maybe 15 minutes of personal instruction.  This was about 4 years ago.  I personally feel that $60 would be better spent on a one on one session with a good coach.

DanH78,

Thanks for the info.  I new that they videotaped everyone but didn't know that I was going to have to watch everyone else.  Well, since I've already paid, I'll just make the best of it.

Thanks again.

I've not worked will Aleta, but I have worked with Michelle through the PBI clinics, and there are alwys going to be some issues when you are in a group environment for a one day or 1/2 day clinic.  Is this the 1/2 day clinic with 14 students shown on their web page?  14 students for 2 coaches is not a bad ratio, however, you will almost always have a great variance in averages of the attendees.  I wouldn't worry about the others at the clinic, just focus on what Aleta and Michelle want you to work on.

As far as Michelle's teaching credntials, she is an excellent coach, and even if the one on one time is limited, you should gain something from the time.

I had exactly the same experience and feelings as DanH78. Knowledgeable coaches just not enough 1 on 1. Pay for the hour not the group sessions u will benefit more.
