Title: Anyone ever done this one?
Post by: baccala8872 on December 08, 2005, 05:19:37 AM
Last night was just laughable.  Granted, it is an awful little mixed where the winner gets 65% of their money back, but anyway................

For me, it's just practice for my leagues tonight.

But, last night, on 4 consecutive balls, I left a stone 7, stone 8, stone 9 and then finally, a wrap 10.  The sequence from my pair and the two adjacent pairs was something like "Oooohhhhh!!!", "Oh, tough break!!!", "Wow!!!", and then out-loud raucous laughter.

Anyway, 668, with a constant struggle against the "Carry Gremlins".

I also left the back 4 on successive shots earlier this year.  But my performance may have been overshadowed by the guy on my right  who left back-to-back-to-back 5-7-10's (yes, three Lillies in a row).  Werd.

I have had the pleasure of leaving the back row on consecutive frames twice this year, not in numberical order though.Last night however I accomplished something I had not done prior to last night I left consecutive 7-10 splits beginning the third game. No one's fault but mine I had several ppl standing with their mouths hanging open saying" that is not possible on those balls" I turned around to inform them if you through teh ball the same way with no hand even though it covered several boards the result would have been the same.No hand no carry!!!!!

Another time (NOT at band camp) at a tournament I'm bowling last squad of an 8 gamer.  Winner gets $1000 (a lot in 1967).  I need 212 my last game to win.  I leave 10 (Yes, 10!) straight 10 pins.  Finish 3d.  Oh well.

that's incredible, I've left 13 in a three game set before, but 10 in a row, I'd dropped the ball on my foot so I wouldn't have had to endure anymore punishment.         lol

big deal you say?

no single pin was the same...

I still to this day can't explain how I managed it...

I've left the back row in a game before, but never on 4 successive shots.

Ya got me again Mario.  I thought I was the king with nine 10's in a row (made 8).

Could some of you help me out with this terminology? What does stone, and wrap mean? What do you mean by you left the back row? 7 through 10 standing on a roll?

Stone 8 is when the ball looks to hit the pocket perfectly, and the 8 pin remains standing.  It looks quite bizarre because the pins just fly all around it, and there it sits untouched.

Wrap 10 is also called the ringing 10, when the 6 pin goes in front of and then completely around the 10 without touching it.  A weak 10 is when the 6 pin just slides in front and lays down in the gutter.  The differences is that a weak 10 indicates a weak ball reaction, whereas the wrap/ringing 10 means the ball hit the pocket on too strong of an angle.

Leaving the back row doesn't mean in the literal sense on one shot, unless you are using a 6lb ball and Rick Lawerence release It would mean leaving a 7 pin on one shot, 9 pin on another, 10 on another and 8 on another.  "Leaving the back row" is most usually a bad ball reaction, or just horrible luck.

D <~~~~ Used to be terrible wiffing 10 pins.  Now through much practice, can wiff any single pin spare at any time.

I frequently leave one of each in the back row during a three-game set, so I just tell my teammies I hit for cycle in that series

your in the pocket and I think I'm a good bowler putting the ball in the pocket 4 times in a row.  seems like you had some carry 686 or you are just a great spare bowler

Flush with the wrong ball and angle doesn't mean you'll carry.  Pay a little attention to where the ball exits the pin deck.

Earlier this season:

Dead flush and never wiggled the 8, just like Randy Pedersons, then off the sheet for 290.

Last Monday, the opponents anchor stones an 8 on the left lane, our leadoff follows, then I follow that up with another stone 8

Ive done all of the above. Left the entire back row in 4 consecutive shots. Did it twice in 1 night last year. Did back to back Lillies (5-7-10 most ive done is twice in a row). Left the 7-10 split 5 times in a row. That night was horrible. How about 5 stone 4 pins in a row??? I've done the single pin leave in a 9-pin tourney all game long. Ive never had 10 10pins in a row yet though. Most ive done is 6. Bowling is weird on pin carry.
