Here's something I'd like to get my hands on...

A list of the best-selling (and worst-selling) balls in the history of bowling.

I know the companies have to keep records of that stuff but they don't let it out. Still, it would be nice to have -- you can get that kind of information for automobiles, record albums, etc. Don't suppose anyone here would know that kind of thing, would they...?

Either that or a Corolla. Oh, you meant bowling balls ....

FYI Original NIB White Dots, not the "WD" balls, are now going for a surprising amount of money on Ebay. I bid $30 for one (+$25 shipping) and was outbid yesterday. I was shocked, to say the least. It was nothing special, just a green one, but it was new and 16 lbs too. I thought it was interesting; so I bid on it.

I'd think that one of the best selling balls of all time would have to be the Columbia Yellow Dot-----the old bleeders available in the 70's.
Another would be the Blue Hammer from Faball. That thing hit like a truck in it's day.
Then the Teal Rhino Pro.I had one of all of these balls and had a blast with them.

White Dots by far.  Vis-a-balls would have to be up there due to have a ball leagues in recent times.  WD's are now made in China but Ebonite still makes the Maxim in the US.  White Dot's something like 40 years on the market ans still going.

Wonder where the Kmart special -- the Galaxie 300 -- falls on this list? (g)

Actually, I'd be interested to cut it off at the start of the urethane era and just track it forward from there.

Still the White Dot, although the Maxim would probably come in a close second.  Most beginners start with a plastic ball, I probably sell five plastics for every resin ball.

Mumzie -- The Black Beauties and Mineralites were very popular in their day, but when you bought one you kept it for years and years.  And they haven't been made for years.  When plastic balls became popular bowlers began to want more than one.  There was a rumor that the different colors within a manufacturer performed better, so you needed that color, then the next color, etc.  For example, in the Crown Jewel line the gray color was supposed to be the strongest.  --  JohnP
