Anyone use Grip-Loc Interchangable Thumb Inserts?
« on: March 08, 2011, 12:09:57 AM »
Saw these in a Pro Shop in SATX yesterday evening after league and I'm soliciting feedback from anyone. I currently use Turbo Switch however I was thinking of going to round thumbs to clean up my release even further.

Airforce -

I am currently using the Grip Loc thumb system and love it.  I was having thumb issues and I really dislike using tape.  My pro shop guy recommended the Grip Loc and I really like it.  So far I have gotten away with drilling only two slugs, but I can usually get a good feel in the thumb using one of them.

My pro shop guys tells me that he has seen some trouble with the other systems breaking, etc., but has had really good realiability with the Grip Loc.  He himself uses the system, is a great bowler and I trust his judgement.  The grips themselves are stable and easy to change.  From what I know, they are also easier to install (maybe that's why my guy likes them!).

I'd give it a shot.

So you used solid slugs (vs. the rounds) and had them drilled out custom like the other systems or am I misunderstanding?

I never liked the fact that if the lock mechanism unlocked, the slug only needs to rotate a few degrees in order for the slug to come out... the IT needs to rotate a full 360 degrees... this just always seemed safer!

I've been using the Grip-loc system for 3 years now and it's by far better than the more expensive Vise - It's. I use the Large grip-loc so I can still use contour vynal thumb inserts, urethane slugs are just too hard for my dry skin to hang on to.
