Arsenal Reconfiguration
« on: February 02, 2014, 08:56:01 AM »
Yesterday I bowled day two the Illinois Boys Bowling State Tournament. I am starting to notice my Hy-Road is getting weaker. It has been a great benchmark for me all season. It was skidding more in oil 2 weeks ago. I soaked it to remove the oil in it and it helped me at my sectionals. Unfortunately, now my Frantic is earlier and has more backend than my Hy-Road. So instead of looking for weaker pieces to add, I want two stronger pieces. Right now I am thinking of the following: Marvel Pearl, Byte, IQ Tour Fusion, IQ Tour Solid, Asylum, Defiant Soul, Rumble. I want a ball with a strong cover (but no particles), strong core (but not a very early core). Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Star moved out of there two years ago and Rich Gucwa moved in. I think he was in buffalo grove before that. I know Jeff too. I know George and Lynn at star too. Just very expensive

I drove by that bowling center in Buffalo Grove and saw they changed it to a Brunswick now.  Very surprised they took it over.  At least its not labeled an 'XL'   Anyway, thanks for the information.

I live in a Chicago land suburb. I am probably going to go bavk to the guys at Olympia Lanes (Hammond, IN). Can anyone describe the motion of all the bowling balls I've listed.

There is a shop I think that is owned by one of the prior exempt bowlers his first name is Jason but I don't remember his last name.  He may be out of one of the brunswick houses in the south suburbs but I'm not sure.

Your question about ball motion really depends on all factors of your layouts, tilt, speed and thats just touching the basics.  Ball motion for me may not be the same for you.

I'll try to find him.

By ball motion, I'm referring to what most bowlers see from them.

Right now I am leaning towards an Asylum.

I'd recommend Will Clark at River Rand, coach at Robert Morris. Works with some of the best young players in the country.

Does the Marvel Pearl skid too much on oil or is it strong enough to grab the lane a little bit? If it doesn't't have a big enough foot print, I will probably get an Asylum first.
