...or at least pretending to listen.

Quote
Senator Bates
Fri, Oct 9, 4:53 PM (4 days ago)
 to Senator

Thank you for your message regarding the reopening of California's bowling centers. I appreciate hearing from you as I share your concerns.

I co-signed a letter that was delivered to Governor Newsom today requesting that he re-evaluate the status of bowling centers under his "Blueprint for a Safer Economy" in order to aid in the responsible re-opening of an integral part of many local communities. The letter can be read at https://bates.cssrc.us/sites/default/files/201009_BowlingCenters.pdf.

Please know that I will continue to do what I can to reopen more of our state in a safe and responsible manner.

Sincerely,

PATRICIA C. BATES

Senator, 36th District

South Orange and North San Diego Counties

So between these topics and the Tommy Pham story we've learned that California bowling centers are still closed but strip clubs are open.

The pot stores are still open as well as are the liquor stores. Because, you know, health reasons.

Here in California, we have our priorities...

Over 215, 000 deaths and counting. Now Covid-19 cases are spiking again. Until we have some sanity restored in this country, we will continue to
be in the grips of this pandemic. California had some of the highest number of cases per capita in the country. And they are beginning to spike again.

The Democrats are not perfect, but they are pound for pound, a lot saner when it comes in trying to deal with this crisis than what we have been witnessing from the Republicans.   If there is any doubt about this, just tune in to one our president's rallies. Irresponsible behavior doesn't come close to explaining those sideshows. Talk to some of the families who have lost loved ones to this virus. Family members dying lonely deaths. Talk to them. Feel their pain. It's real.  We can get our economy opened again, including our bowling centers, if we only had leadership in Washington that would take this crisis seriously, because what happens there also affects the individual states, including California.

Riddle me this.  For CA bowling centers to completely open you have to have less than 1 case per 100,000 residents.  One one hundred thousands of a percent!!!! That is like cutting a penny into 100,000 pieces.  San Diego County has 3.3M residents so that equals 33 cases per day.  Testing is not 100% accurate, no test is.  But for sake of argument I will stipulate that COVID testing is 99% accurate.  San Diego has a goal of 5,600 tests per day.  1% of 5,600 is 56.  56 is greater than 33.  Under the current CA COVID rules bowling centers will NEVER reopen.

Democrats are not perfect and they are freaking far from it when it comes to basic math and statistics.   This isn't about me wanting to bowl.  It is about thousands of employees being out of work and not being able to support their families. You should talk to them and feel their pain.  Trump rallies are a sideshow???  YOU are a sideshow.

Hey Bergman - I fixed your post.

Over 215, 000 deaths and counting. Now Covid-19 cases are spiking again. Until Bergman has his sanity restored Bergman will continue to be in the grips of this pandemic.

Bergman's Democrats are not perfect, but they are pound for pound, absolutely batsh*t crazy and the only thing they are good at is not letting a crises go to waste.

Some people need to research what a DNA PCR test is, and how unreliable the data we are given may the media is.

So many people in alternative media have been dissecting this for months. I think the best go to place is thehighwire

If someone wants to feed off of main stream media and corrupt politicians fear porn, and then regurgitate statistics, there is really nothing to say to them.

Why wait?  I just made a career change at 50.  Secured a new job just yesterday that gives me the flexibility I need to get out of CA.  Starting today I'm developing my exit plan and give myself 1 year to get out of CA and set up shop in a new state.

Because I'm 58 and love the company where I work. We are a CA only company and some of my job I could do remotely, but I prefer to be in the office. I have no interest in changing careers at this point and honestly, nothing else(even professional bowler) will pay what I make currently.

For my line of work, few places can match the salary available in CA. At least places I would want to live.

"Lighten up Francis"

 :o

Not for nothing here, but thank you for reminding me, with the name Francis. For the first time ever, I finally watched the final episode of MASH yesterday.

Go ahead, laugh. I was 9 years old when that episode aired! Besides, I didn't care then, we had the A Team and Knight Rider on, that was blowing stuff up, so who cared about MASH!? (Actually, they were getting blown up, so it could go either way.)

I didn't get it back then, but I get it now. Really good stuff.

Anywho, back to the argument. I'm just here for the sideshow and comic relief.

My reference was from a quote in the movie "Stripes"(Bill Murry, Harold Ramis, John Candy etc), but it probably applies to MASH as well.

Knowing the reference from either one dates us.  ;D

It does. I want to say that Colonel Potter accidentally yelled "Lighten up, Francis!" to Father Mulcahey.

Funny thing is, I never watched an episode of MASH in my life, but saw it show up in my feed, so I thought "what the hell!" and watched it.

Meanwhile, back to my GI Joe livestream on youtube, and trying to figure out if I can get away with a protractor and ruler or just spend the money to get an armadillo and pro-sect, as I've finally figured out how dual angle layouts work.

For those not in the know:

https://www.covid19.ca.gov/state-dashboard

For bowling alleys to open, counties in California have to reach the Moderate (Orange) or Minimal (Yellow) status. Very few urban counties have that status right now. Of those counties that do:

Santa Clara (San Jose, Santa Clara, Cupertino, Milpitas)
Fremont (Fremont, Oakland, Livermore, Dublin)
El Dorado (El Dorado Hills, Pollock Pines, S. Lake Tahoe)
Placer (parts of Roseville, Rocklin, Auburn)

Bowling alleys can open. So for the ones I know of, we have:
Strikes Rocklin
Bowlmor/AMF Rocklin Lanes
Foothills Lanes (Auburn)
4th Street Bowl (San Jose)
Clover... oh, wait..  :'(
Dublin Bowl
Knotty Pine Lanes (Pollock Pines)

So we have some options, but we'd have to drive to them. Right now, Strikes and AMF Rocklin are the closest to me, so we'll see what happens.
