change in weight

Because I am looking at a couple potential new balls, will a 1 lb change in weight make any difference at all?  Going from 15 to 16?

Yes it will.  One of the things that you will need to work on is your timing.  When making any changes either lighter or heavier, your timing will be off for some time.  Some people think that using a heavier ball will help knock down more pins.  Now, if you bowled like 30 years ago, I would agree.  However, once the equipment changed in the 90's, you don't need a 16lb ball anymore.

Everyone is different. You may  not have a problem with changing up at all. Find a cheap 15 and have it drilled for you. That is the only way to really know.

As mentioned above, a change in weight will definitely change your timing. That should be duly noted.

I will switch to 16 Lbs when I am specifically trying to play straighter; hold a line longer; and/or drive pins to the back of the deck. I find that when playing on patterns with flying backends, I can carry the backrow better. Just my 2 cents.

Some days you're the bug....some days you're the windshield...that's bowling!

I changed from a 16 lb storm thunder to a 14 lb storm tropical breeze blue on medium to light oil , i was amazed at such a easy swing i got backend every time . In one game i was used to the timing and my average im confident will improve, as well as my back pain!!!!

I have recently changed from 16 to 14. I also stopped using my Robby's Rev wrist brace.

I have had a harder time learning to release the ball and building up my wrist strength than I have adjusting to the weight change or timing issues.

It has been almost two months now and things are slowly shaping up.  My ball speed has increased to 16+ mph Quibica with little effort.  My rev rate is still not what it was with the wrist brace, but it is coming.

All and all, I see no down sides and there is no way I would go back and have to deal with the hip pain I was having with 16lb balls.
