Axis rotation vs. axis tilt
« on: November 19, 2018, 03:09:40 PM »
I am a low axis rotation/low axis tilt player, 250ish rev rate. The problem I have is my ball will tend to roll forward too quickly after reacting to the dry resulting in weak hits instead of continuation through the pins.. Straighter angles or keeping the ball inside the oil line and everything is fine, swinging to the dry area is where the issues tend to happen.

My question is, does the low axis rotation or low tilt (or both) contribute to this?

Both. I have the same issue from time to time. I've worked a good amount in practice at getting better moving left with more axis rotation.

I certainly have days where it's better than others. Due to a surgically repaired wrist, I lost a lot of the "feel" that allowed me to do whatever I needed to the ball whenever I needed to.

I'm just always teetering on the edge of enough rotation/tilt and a slight change from day to day can have me on the bad side of it. Just need to increase the axis rotation to get me further away from that edge so my bad/no feel days are no big deal. I can still score on the "bad" days (737 this week, 265, 266, 206) but I can't go left on those days to take advantage of what's out there which is why I finished with a clean 206.

For me I generally stay away from the HP high asymmetry balls as they roll forward too quick unless I have a lot of oil. Symmetrics and assyms with int. Diff around .010 have been my friend.

I also run into issues with my ball speed being a little too low so I'm rev dominant around 325ish. I used to sit between 15.3-15.8 at the pin deck but after having labrum surgery in my shoulder I'm now between 14.5-15.0 most days. Just doesn't mix well being low tilt and low rotation if there's not much oil
