Title: Ball selection help
Post by: BLW500 on October 08, 2018, 07:03:00 PM
I am a very casual bowler, my best game was 203 typically 140-60. A few months ago my ball cracked so I'm looking at balls. 2 nights ago I went bowling with a friend and he has a Hammer Black Widow Legend, I was bowling with it most of the night and it's just a bit too aggressive at the end for me. I've been looking at balls like all night and I just don't understand what most of the stats mean on a ball. Does anyone have any suggestions on a ball that would hook just a bit less at the end?

The entry level equipment should be more than enough for a beginner ball, do you have an particular brand that you like?

Ebonite Cyclone, Hammer Vibe, Storm Match Up, Roto Grip Hustle, Brunswick Rhino, DV8 Alley Cat, Motiv Freestyle, Columbia Nitrous, 900 Global Boost.

Pick your favorite color out of any of these.

The Cyclone is no longer being made anymore. Ebonite Turbo R or Destiny line.

Both pro shops locally have Cyclones still on the shelf, I would guess that is the case for most pro shops who don't work on a order only basis. But if they don't have one, there are plenty of choices still.

I have seen both the solid and pearl Ebonite Destiny and they would make a good two ball combination for most conditions.  I picked up the Turbo/R for dry lanes and was surprised as to how much the ball hooked.  If you bowl on really dry conditions it would be a good ball to consider.

Good luck.
