Believe it or not, some people actually bowl like that. Not everybody is a grip it and rip player. And if what I see in centers and leagues is any indication, there are plenty of pro shops out there selling and drilling "monster hook" balls to people that throw straight!
If that is all it takes to piss you off, you might want to take a long hard look in the mirror and consider some counseling.

The guy that whooped my butt was using a mega friction while I was doing all I could to keep ny slingshot on the lane.
Point being, his ball was getting into a heavy roll and killing the pins. Hook doesn't mean it needs to cover 20 boards..

I rev it up only slightly more than this guy, but I'm still a stroker at best. I personally throw almost nothing but stronger equipment with weaker drills because weaker coverstocks can react a little over/under on a wet-dry house shot, and they don't read the midlane enough to give me the entry angle I like. Even in the last games of a third-shift block at Nationals this year when the shot was burnt up pretty badly, I was still throwing a sanded Gravity Shift with a skid/flip layout because anything weaker wouldn't let me chase the head oil left and still have anything left on the back to kick out the 10 pin.

Not everyone is a 20-something strapping the prostitute shot...last time I was considering a league, many of the bowlers in the house were over 40 and many could have been considered dump-and-chuckers.

lol well Ive bowled since I was 6 .. Im 30 now.. I quit in 2006 due to an injury , but now am getting back into leagues again this fall.. I still watch a few buddies on thursday and friday nights , and im telling you what I see.. 10% of bowlers bowl like that, in 2 different houses I watch at..
To each his own I guess.. Im no fabulous bowler by any means ( ended with a 206 avg in 04 and am holding a 206 right now thru about 40 games ) which is not better than Clint from his average posted, but thats not the point of this thread. I can tell if hes a stroker a tweener or just an old slow straight ball player, which is why I wondered why they have him in vids for reviews now. Because like I said going from Brian to this is not really showing what a ball is capable of, its showing he can throw a ball accurate and basically straight down the alley, which can be done by pretty much any ball out there

Clint looks like he's hitting the lanes left of center, maybe around 25 board? Crossing at center arrow (so, that's 20?), and on that shot at 1:59 he's somewhere between 5 and 10.
Just because he's not laying it down at the gutter and out to the 1 board doesn't mean he isn't hooking it!

they have that guy John on there who more or less dumps and chucks the ball lets it roll and hits the pocket
okay great thats fine if thats what your into
I do miss Brian being on the vids he had a very simple and efficient release and swing
Tony has a very smooth approach also and gets a nice reaction from most of the stuff he throws
Clint and John in my opinion are 2 of the same types of bowler
yes they do fit the bill for what most of the typical 1 league a week bowlers are like
but honestly the market does not appeal to them
I bowl in only 1 league a season now and its a fun league that I bowl with my brothers, and grandfather in, (mainly to just have a night to practice and I save my normal weekly fees for local tournaments so I can make money bowling not just donate it every week in a handicap league because there are no good scratch leagues around me) and the majority of the league is recreational bowlers that have a style like clint
but the market for bowling balls is not this type of bowler
these guys are lucky if they buy a new ball 1 time a year
more like a new ball every 3 years or more
theres guys in this league that have stuff that is from 2004 and older
which again is fine theres no reason for them to have a huge lineup or buy the latest hook in a box
they can average 180-200 with just about anything that has a reactive coverstock and core on it regardless
the majority of bowlers that are consistently buying new products and releases are guy that bowl competitively
bowl in money leagues and money tournaments on a consistent basis and feel they need the newest greatest round ball that comes out to knock pins down

What we have here is a major case of dumbassness. Dont worry MJ your not the only one here that has it. GOOD bowlers know that straighter is greater. And you will never avg over your measly 206 trying to hook the whole lane every shot.
What injury did you get? A torn ego when you realized that you cant avg. 300 hooking the whole lane?

Never bowling with more then one ball huh? Seems like your signature says you use 3? Seems like more than 1 ball to me. And a nail kept you out of work for 6 months? Wow. Im in college to be a machinist and Ive stuck fingers in grinders many of times. Have had many of stitches. Even ground half of my knuckle bone off and I was out of commission for 2 days. Toughen up jr. and No sir you will never be better then me. I can play straight you can only hook the whole lane. Nice try though.

The only thing I can say about Clint is I agree with BackInTheGame, and that what he does works for him. Someone said they don't know how he averages 205 bowling like that. Well it's my opinion that it doesn't matter a whole lot what you do anymore. As long as the ball rolls decent and what you do physically works for you, anyone can average 200. 215-220+ is kinda the new "good" in my opinion.

mj79: That's a nasty injury by any definition. You're lucky you've recovered normal hand function. As far as this thread, whether you've seen these bowlers or not, Clint does represent the vast majority of league bowlers. It's the perfect style to point out what a ball can or can't do. There are really very few balls on the market that can be thrown at that angle with Clint's style and still consistently carry. From this perspective, the video has a lot of value.
