Belmonte Style Of Bowling
« on: November 26, 2013, 05:02:21 PM »
Just wanted to know what you think of his shot...

His shot looking insteresting and very powerful when the lane is giving some friction but not really sure what to make of it yet... YouTude is full of all his stuff and he seem to be scoring allot higher than most because he is normally in the top 3... Pros are saying his ball is causing the oil to move allot because of his high revs... Does a high rev rate move the oil?

Where have you been for the last 3-4 years?  Not trying to be insulting but this was the hot issue awhile ago.  Belmonte's been lighting it up for a few years now.

Maybe I've been watching too much World Star Hip Hop lately, but after reading the title of the topic, I'm glad to hear that Jason Belmonte is in good health and in fact, has not been shot.

As someone who was a very active bowler and who followed the PBA as a teenager in the mid 80's to the early 2000's, then who is only recently getting back into bowling and the PBA, I was also surprised to learn about Belmonte and the whole "2 handed" style that seems to be more common now.  So much as changed since I last bowled seriously, I am a little nervous about starting over again.

As a two hander, let me chime in.  It all depends on the oil used.  I wouldnt say higher rev rates move oil but it can help burn up a line a little quicker.  Think of it this way...put a ball on a spinner.  Turn it on and place your hand on the ball.  At a lower spin speed, you can keep your hand on it several seconds before your hand gets hot.  At a faster spin speed, after only a couple seconds it feels like it is going to burn the skin off your hand.

In regards to balls and lane surfaces, like you might expect, a polished ball is not going to soak up oil near as quickly as a duller surface.  Even if us crankers are using polished equipment, oil will get soaked up but not nearly as fast as someone using a ball at 1000 abralon.

I bowled league a couple months ago where we had a guy with a pretty low rev rate and somewhat speed dominate.  His ball fried the lanes up way faster than I was with a ball at 2000 plus Factory Finish.  Every few frames, I was making 3 and 2 moves to stay ahead of his moves.  Very frustrating night to say the least.

So.....rev rate itself is just part of the equation in regards to oil moving and/or being soaked up.  I think the coverstock and its surface will dictate it more than anything.

Slightly deserving, no?

The question is valid, but it's strange to see from somebody who actively posts on the forum.

NVM, I didn't see that he was the one who posted on his own question...I'm thinking about trying the two handed, one footed bowling style.
