Title: Benchmark ball
Post by: Djarum on February 01, 2011, 01:57:04 AM
I'm in need of a benchmark ball. I'm really getting back into the swing of things for bowling after taking 6 months off. Right now I am using my fired up, however, its a little too long/strong for the lanes. I need something with similar amount of hook, but something that will read the lanes earlier. My Track Freak and Hammer Razor blade are both too strong.
I have about 16mph ball speed and a high track(not much tilt).

High Track and low tilt seem to call for a ball with stronger than average backend for a benchmark.
if your Fired-Up is too long & strong, these might serve your [urpose:

Charlest,
I was thinking either a Hy-Road or maybe a Game Plan. My LPS keeps mostly Storm and Ebonite, not that I can't get anything I want since he can order it.
So, is there any tread left on the tires? Or at this point would it be like throwing a hot dog down a hallway? - Stewie Griffin

In general, the Game Plan was not nearly as successful as it should have been.It is no discontinued and the Game On is its successor. It is more of what the Game Plan should have been. Reads the midlane better and has a more defined backend without actually being flippy. It is also a possibility as a benchmark for your release.
GameOn is a strong-ish pearl with a medium-low RG, Hy-Road is a combo with a higher RG.
Both are very safe choices. Make sure you and your driller choose the right drilling for whichever ball you wind up with.

You could aslo go with an Onyx Vibe, it's a good benchmark for me.

I'm a higher track guy with lower tilt. My dull benchmark(s) are the Columbia 300 Burst at 4000 abralon for a little heavier stuff where I need control or I have a hang spot.. My shiny benchmark is my Anaconda at 2000 with Polish for when the backends are clean and really moving.
