Buying used balls
« on: February 17, 2013, 02:53:39 PM »
Some of you might have a problem buying used balls on this site.  I'm sorta that way, but when a ball becomes available and it has what I'm looking for, I try my best to purchase it.  I have too many bowling balls to use and I use them all as in my scratch league. This week I started out in the first game and using a Hammer Black Widow (pin below the ring finger) and had a 182 game, it just would not carry. I left 5... 7 pins in a row.  Game 2, changed to the BW Bite (pin to the upper right of ring finger)...first ball solid 10 pin and of course I missed it. Moved 2 and 1 and had the next 11 strikes.  Did not change anything and had the first nine in game 3.  First ball in the 10, another 10 pin, picked it up and strike on the next.  20 in a row and back to back 279.  I felt proud of myself since I'm 67 years old. I purchased both of these balls on this site, so keep looking and don't be afraid to purchase used bowling balls.  They have life left and good games in them.  Good bowling ladies and guys.

Glad to hear the used stuff is working well for you. I, too, bought a ball here that I was actually able to shoot my only 800 series with.

Nothing wrong with the used stuff, as long as it has been taken decent care of.

First, good bowling 60bowler.

I agree that there is nothing wrong with purchasing used bowling balls.  My only 300 game came from a used ball.

If you have any questions about the person you are thinking of dealing with, you can check the Buyer-Seller Feedback forum to see if they have any feedback.
http://www.ballreviews.com/buyerseller-feedback-b71.0/

You can also look at either their online Profile to see if they have their previous dealings listed there or check out the Profiles of some of the elder members here as some of us list our transactions and you might see the name of the person listed there.  Granted, that's no solid gaurantee that nothing will go wrong with your transaction, but long-time members here do want to keep their reputations clean for future transactions.

I do not buy used bowling balls but do buy a lot of nib. There are many cases when I drill a ball and it doesn't fit what I was looking for and sell it with 10 games or less. I have several currently I need to do the same with.  All are 15lbs, most are all Brunswick, and all are $30-35 shipped. If you buy multiple I will drop the price to $25 shipped.
…… you can't  add a physics term to a bowling term and expect it to mean something.

I buy used occasionally also. Generally look for layouts I use and spans close to mine, plus how much usage on the ball. I don't like to change a layout drastically. Purchased a few from tekneek and all I had to do was change the inserts.
