Black Beauty
« on: February 17, 2013, 09:11:06 PM »
Foes anyone know if the old Black Beauty had a pancake style core in it?  Or if there are any other old rubber balls i should consider when i try and find an old piece off the racks at the local center?  I currently use a rubber ball / pancake core for my sparr ball, but it is cracking. I bought a crown to replace the spare ball, but i recengly have figured out how to put too much hook on the ball forthe 3rd game, and my current 70'sline technology ball fits quite nicely in the roll of the non-hooker.

Gimme some good names to look for from the past, i want some core to take out the 5time pin, but not a lot of hook.

Black beauty had an inner material that was a very dense almost cork like ball.  It really doesn't hook at all unless you throw it under 12mph.

Ebonite had the dual core rubber ball back then and it has a slight amount of flare! We have one on the rack at the bowling center and grab it when I'm working on a lane to do a test! It has a nice little hook and when I looked at the flare I was amazed! Just a thought!

The Black Diamond replaced the Black Beauty.  It was one of the hardest rubber balls made.  --  JohnP
