Title: Best Ball of 2003
Post by: htotheizzo3561 on December 23, 2003, 08:36:15 AM
I was just wondering what everyone thinks is the best ball for 2003.  Strong contenders are the:

 Inferno
 Black Cherry Bomb
 Cherry Bomb
 Triple Threat
 Hammer Particle Vicious

What else should be on this list??

My vote goes for the Inferno.

But I think you forgot a strong contender in the golden nugget. Everyone seems to be raving about it.

Track Mutant has to go on the list. it was just forgotten about by everyone because of all of tracks other oilers that came out right after it.

and my favorite is the Columbia Wild.  nobody thinks of it as a great ball but for a 3 piece 69 dollar ball.  that is one hell of a bargain.  ive rolled 280,279,278,277 and an 800 with mine and its still rollin strong.

Has to go to the X-Factor.  It didn't leave 10 pins like crazy like all the Infernos.  Btw, does anybody like the Blazing?  I haven't heard anything good about it at all, and one of my buddies got one a couple weeks ago and says it's the biggest piece of trash he's ever thrown.  I think the X-Factor was actually last year though, cause I got it before I started working in the shop, and that's been OVER a year ago.  So I suppose I'll have to vote for Fear Factor.  That Monsoon coverstock is really something else.  I can't put down my Super Charge, although I should sometimes, lol.

I think easily the Monster SmashR is the best ball around for it's price/performance.

That being said, the award will most likely go to the X-Factor or Inferno. I didn't like either one that much, both seemed to burn up too much for my game, but I can't argue with the fact that it seems like everyone had either one or the other.

The underdog could be the Columbia 300 Flipside WoW, was another ball that seemed to be everywhere, and was decently priced.

I think the choice in overall popularity is probably the Inferno, or possibly the Lane 1 Cherry Bomb.

Not picking ONE------but coming up with a list (of stuff I have used), here goes my top 5 in no particular order

Storm Fear Factor
Track Mutant
Track Phenom
Track Thrash
Dynothane THING

INFERNO.   Hey i don't even own an inferno  It's something with that cover. If layout correct this ball is the bomb. I can't wait to drill my self one. This ball put Brunswick back on the map.

Well the only "new" ball I bought this yr is the THING and I like it alot. It seems to be getting better too.

I don't know if the SSPearl qualifies, but it's a great ball too.

    My 2 Choices...of the equipment I have owned/thrown.....

    Ball of the Year:

Track Crunch...........under a hundred bucks.....extremely predictable and even rolling ball on just about any condition.......a coverstock that is easily tweaked........and hitting power that is unreal......How this one got under the radar is beyond me, but will have one of these in my arsenal for many years to come....

    Runner Up.....

Track Mutant....Nothing better on oil......Hitting power that is unmatached.....a coverstock that again is easily tweaked......and that predictable arc and crashing sound that makes you smile every time you clear the deck.....

    Honorable Mention:

Columbia WOW Pearl......Another one that flew in under the radar.  Excellent hitting power....extremely versitile......just sort of ugly color scheme...

Nominees for Ball of the Year that I haven't thrown but have seen and have been impressed with....

Brunswick Inferno............First ball in ages by Brunswick that actually made me want to go out and try it.

    Storm X-Factor

    Columbia Flipside Wicked BRT

    Track Thrash

    Happy Holidays!!!

    Mike

For me and my game - no two ways about it -
    the X-Factor Deuce.

The ball that is probably going to take over as my all time favorite:
    Inferno.
(I haven't been able to play the kind of lines/release I want to use to score huge with this ball, due to injury. When I have thrown it the way I want, WOW!)

And another all time favorite - (but it came out more than a year ago)
    the Smash/R.

Awesome equipment - all of it.

I got a Cherry Bomb and an Inferno this year. My vote goes to the Inferno. I've had terrible reaction with Cherry Bomb. A buddy of mine loves his however. Maybe it doesn't fit my style or the layout isn't right for me.

I would have to say the Eraser Pearl Particle a great ball gets down the lane and makes a great turn and hits like a truck. It is cheap and very predicable down the lanes as well. If the x-factor is in 2003 I would say it would be part of it.

Although we are talking about 2003 and one ball...I would have to say....THE ENTIRE V2 Series: Strong, Particle, Solid, and Dry.......THE BEST BALLS ON THE MARKET....Thank Ebonite

    Honorable Mention:
    Sharp Blade
    Sling Blade
    Tornado Warning

If it isn't EBONITE it isn't bowling........

    I vote

    1. Inferno
    2. X-factor
    3. Raging Inferno

Although I only use Brunswick, but many ppl have good result with X-Factor in my house. Raging Inferno maybe not as strong as Brunswick said in box finish, but it works good when Inferno is over/under (which is rare) And Inferno is a very very good ball.
