Consolidation...
« on: August 04, 2008, 01:56:27 PM »
So I have run into a slight issue.

I have one ball in my lineup that I have complete confidence in and find it to be the benchmark ball.

Now I have two above and two below it, I am not sold on any of these and have good and bad times with them. They seem to be condition specific or not peforming to a level that I am happy with.

Now I'm curious, I have tried surface changes and such to each ball and just have found that I may have compiled to many balls that don't fit my game.

Should I just cut my losses, sell what I can, get what I can for them and reinvest is say pickup a ball above and below my benchmark or continue to try and persevere with equipment that has not seemed to match up well?

Any comments and suggestions are welcome and some brief info is available in my profile.

Thanks

If it's not surface, I'd guess the problem is the layout on those balls, or a combination of both.  Also, not all balls will be good on a number of conditions except maybe if you happen to get a really good layout for your game.  That's all I can really say without knowing what balls you have and at least a little bit about their layouts.  Also, did these balls have sub-par performance for you in their OOB surfaces?

I would pick 2 that are condition specific that you like the most, one for each end of the spectrum.for example I kept 2 particle balls, one smooth and one that backends.I sold off/traded the others and I'm currently working on a line that offers more mid lane.I also keep the stuff I can't sell due to no one wants them.I won't give stuff away as they are good for practice or other then normal situations.for the most part my arsenal is set, check my profile.

See I may have some layout issues. The equipment I have can shine at moments but I just don't see the versitility that I would like out of the stuff I have besides my so called benchmark ball.

I really think my benchmark ball is my 80% as well and I think that I could do something to trade off the two above it and do something new and have a 10% there.

On the lower end of the spectrum I have one that really has been disappointing since I got it and one that I think I may have figured out as a toasty/screaming backend ball.

I am going to talk with my driller and I think i'm leaning towards dropping three and adding one to give me a look of

New Ball
Benchmark (I have)
Weak Ball (I have)
Plastic (I have)

And later on potentially adding a ball or two as alternate look pieces.
