I'm want to know what everyone thinks the true best Skid/Flip ball out there is. I'm looking to get the most extreme skid/flip ball out, just want some suggestions.
-
Aren't you still on staff?
That being said, dirty look looks pretty sideways.
-
My shop dropped the Seismic program so Im still on staff, not full staff so not exclusive anymore. Shop which I was at, both inside an AMF center here, shut there doors so both the shops had to close, tragic. But, Seismic for me is archy, I want a true skid/flip monster I can stand left and throw right.
-
If you want to check out 900 Global, The Look/Dirty Look are more skid/flip than some of their other balls.
The other one I can think of is the Victory Road Pearl from Storm. That ball seriously is one of the best skid/flip balls I've seen in a while.
-
I was thinking possibly the Critical Theory. I know the Looks are real good. But I've thrown 900global covers for past 3+ years so Im thinking of venturing away and see. The best skid flip ball I've thrown in past 3yrs wasn't a 900global cover, my Morich Mania. And I scores well with it.

Love my Victory Road Pearl
-
The black eagle is very S/F
-
Storm Frantic
-
The innovate and wrench both turn the corner pretty hard off the end of the pattern. The exceed dose too with a little polish over the box finish.
-
900 Global Dirty Look, Purple Taboo, Marvel Pearl come to mind.
-
If you can find a break point pearl, those were pretty strong off the spot.
-
Victory Road Pearl. In my opinion nobody has ever been as consistently good as Storm at building skid/flip motion. And the VRP is as good as any they have produced.
Frantic is a hybrid...same cover as Crossroads but both of those have good tip in the back too....just not as much skid as VRP.

I havent had a ball that skid/flips harder than my CT with polish..its crazy flippy...my anarchy was close...

The Violent Eruption is pretty "violent" at the end of the pattern. Dont let the low rg fool you. It gets down the lane with ease.
-
Surprised no one has said IQ Tour Pearl.
-
Surprised no one has said IQ Tour Pearl.
Was thinking the same. Ill let you know how flippy on thursday when i drill mine.
-
My iQ Tour Pearl gets pretty sideways down lane. It is a fantastic piece
-
+1 on the Fringe. VR Pearl is pretty flippy too.
-
the 607a se was crazy angular but my marvel pearl for a strong ball is very angular i just ordered a erased off buddys international list should flip very hard also has the hyroad core and the r2s cover same ball as the victory road pearl there all long pins too and for 99 shipped i figured id give it a shot.
-
Radical Slant HD, Dirty Look and Victory Road Pearl are 3 of the flippiest balls out there right now.
Don't forget that your release, the drilling and the oil pattern have a large effect on the ball reaction.
Polishing some of the stronger, backending, dull oilers can also create some wickedly strong breakpoints.
-
Surprised no one has said IQ Tour Pearl.
While many reviews show it to be even arcing, some recent videos show it CAN have a very strong backend. Since it seems to be too conditional on several factors, I wouldn't personally include it in this group.
-
Strong back end is something that is often misunderstood. A ball with a strong backend transitions really fast in the backends. These are gonna be asymmetricals and you can get the skid from the layout and surface. The IQ tour pearl is very continuous in the backends. It has a lot of hook in the backends because of this so a lot of people would call it strong backend when that isn't really the case. It's hard to determine which backend someone is really looking for between strong or continuous cause they are complete opposite yet are commonly confused with each other because of terminology. The number one thing that drives me crazy in the pro shop business is how terminology differs from one person to another.
-
i miss posted the erased isnt like the victory road pearl it is the same ball as the thunder road pearl
-
I have a Primal Impulse by Motiv, and that is probably the most flippy ball off the break point I ever had. It definatly moves the other direction.

I'm not so sure I understand the difference.
To my mind, strong backending balls should be continuous. A strong backend should not preclude continuousness. I will admit that some very strong polished pearls (even solids) can be so strong in some people's hands and on some oil patterns, that they roll out when they hit the dry. If a ball rolls out before it gets to the pocket, it is rarely continuous in my eyes. In that case, I think it's wrong to be using too strong a ball.
I am inclined to believe that no matter how strong the backend on a drilled, thrown ball is, if it's not also continuous, you shouldn't be using it.
BUT I could be missing some other concept here. If you think so, please describe it. We may be using different terms to imply the same or a similar idea. Thanx.

I would like a better explanation too because tdub tries to lump all asymmetrical balls in the skid/flip category. The day my Vivid or HRR skids to the backend to have that backend "only" motion I will be impressed. Maybe I misunderstood what you were getting at. The Primal Impulse will also get the job done too, I feel it finishes at the pins better then anything in my bag.
-
By manufacturers terminology a ball like a nano has a stronger backend because it transitions faster and isn't very continuous. So essentially this is why i asymmetricals are considered to have more backend because they transition faster. While a ball like an IQ tour pearl is considered more control because it is more continuous. Which would be less strong of a backend by manufacturers terms. I understand what you are saying about wanting continuation. I don't even drill strong covered/strong cored balls because they are so strong front to back. They transition too fast and are better when i have enough oil to go extremely straight. More or less i feel it would be better to have different terminology for ball reaction front to back and left to right that was an industry standard. Every new high performance ball that comes out is tabbed a more continuous than the last and its all marketing hype because that is exactly what they aren't.....
-
All I'm saying is that the term skid/flip is a very loose term. What is skid flip to one person is not to the next. I would never consider a ball like an IQ tour skid flip because it is so continuous. While someone else might read that slow backend transition as "flippy". This is evident in the wide variety of completely opposite kinds of bowling balls that have been recommended in this post. for example, a CT and a victory road couldn't be further apart in ball reaction....
-
I dont know about others but i consider a ball flippy by how late and anglar a ball is my 607a se was very lat reacting and lookes like it was kicked dead left at the breakpoint and i am hoping i get the same out of my erased pbt
-
That said if you are looking got length and a continuous transition that will cover boards the iq tour pearl is awesome. If you are looking for length and a strong fast transitioning backend, i really like the dirty look.
-
I think the Nexxxus is right up there. Some of my favorite blasts from the past include the Track 811A and Track Uprising.
Just my two cents.
-
was the troad pearl flippy
-
The best skid/flip ball besides the first blood is the roto grip wrecker , for med. speed/rev bowlers. See for yourself online.
-
Id have to say the Brunswick Ringer is a good choice and the Brunswick Aura Paranormal with a little polish is an excellent choice.
-
There is no ONE BEST skid/flip ball because there are so many these days.
Plus there are ways to increase that tendency with drillings specific to the bowler's delivery.
Some are
RG Wrecker
Motiv Thrash Frenzy
900G Dirty Look
Columbia Violent Eruption
Storm IQ Tour Pearl
DV8 Misfit Yellow Pearl
-
my vote is for the DIVA
-
Hell Raiser terror is my #1 choice. It also has a very tuneable cover that even without polish can rip around the corner!
I would pick the Ultimax over the NeXXXus. I just felt that I could manipulate it more with both my hand and pads.
I am surprised that nobody has not mentioned the hyroad! Once upon a time I liked what it did for me on high friction surfaces.
-
Roto-Grip Wrecker
Brunswick Karma
-
Cross Road... Available. Reign if you can get one... Then I bet the Fire Road. Can't go wrong with either.
-
Ringer definitely.
-
i loved the flip of the reign. that was a great ball for "hockey stick" skid flip reaction
-
706A, or an 811A (if you can find one) would be good depending on the amount of head oil.
-
Ulti-max!
-
I equate skid/flippy to hockey stick motion. IQT Pearl does not look like a hockey stick to me. It has way too much read of the midlane to be considered skid/flip. It does have lots of backend. I would call it an Arc monster. I would also put Marvel pearl in this category too.
Victory Road Pearl is very skid flippy
For my money tho, Critical theory (if there's enough oil) is the skid/flip winner.
