Dear Mr Or Ms TV Producer (My Rant)
« on: November 19, 2019, 01:18:24 AM »
I watched another tv show that had bowling as part of it's plot line and saw the same comedy of errors as in earlier shows.  Mr or Ms Producer, please hire someone who is at least familiar with league bowling as an advisor for these shows even if you have to grab the counter person who usually works at that bowling center.

If showing another League Champions Showdown episode:

1.  Have the two opposing teams bowl on the same pair.  In leagues, we don't normally have one team bowl on lane 2 and the other team on lane 3.  Usually the teams will compete on the same lanes so that they face the same conditions.

2.  Coach the actors up to above beginner level if they are supposed to be the hot shot league champion bowlers they are supposed to be (repeat champs three years in a row).  Using a 3 step approach, really?  I know there are some competent bowlers who use a 3 step approach, but you don't usually see more than one in a match.

3.  Please try to film some 1-3 pocket strikes for the right handed bowlers.  The endless display of Brooklyn strikes (1-2 pocket) is over-whelming and unrealistic.

4.  When showing the bowler using a ball, at least show the same ball going into the pins.  If your champ is throwing a new shiny ball, don't show a beat-up dull ball going into the pins even if it is close to the same color.  We can tell the difference.

I am sure there are more examples but that was off the top of my head and it is too filled with other clutter from the past 60 yrs for me to remember anymore at this point.  If anyone else wants to chip in, please do.

rant off.

I've always been bugged by the ubiquitous "bowling" shirts (the colorful button-up ones with the wide collars) that are always worn on TV shows and commercials. It's makes it seem like wearing those style shirts are a prerequisite to doing any bowling whatsoever.

Do like this. Act like you can bowl, even if it's the first time in your life  you picked up a ball.
The perfect game. I actually remember watching this on TV when I was a kid. It must have them forever to shoot this.
