How would a 5x5 drilling compare to a 5x4 drilling?

Weight block to track angle is different so reaction is different!! thats the other reason why Cg's get moved around.

No difference in reaction.

No, it doesn't.  The amount of shift required to create normal pin distances (2-5") is measured in 32nds and 64ths of an inch.  Looking at a weight block in a transparent ball, you cannot see a difference between a 0" pin and a 5" pin, no matter how you turn the ball.

So all of those Torgys tips columns ive read in older issues of BTM are bull now? And if i look down on say a clear werewolf with and 0" pin and one with a pin 4-5" out(with the cg facing straight up) the weight block would look like its in the same spot?

If you're talking about the angle of the weight block with respect to the track for a given pin position but different CG locations, you can't tell a difference.

If you're talking about putting the CG at the north pole and looking at the orientation of the weight block with respect to various pin distances, of course, no one is arguing that.

You said the angle of the weight block with respect to the track with different CG placements.  The orientation of the weight block inside the ball does not change no matter where you put the CG.

I should have clarified.  I am talking about an asymetrical ball.  I know that if the the pin cg and mb are in line that moving the mb to the right of the thumb will change a reaction more than the cg.  

My friend and i have been arguing about this for some time.  He says he read in drilling instructions time and time again that a 5x5 drilling is for length and arc and a 5x4 is for length and snap.  

I disagree with him saying that on a symmetrical peice it would have no effect, but on a asymmetrical peice it would change the position of the mb to a weaker posittion not creating the strong snap.

Thoughts?

You know I have carefully stayed out of this ongoing controversy for a long time and I will continue to try and stay out of it.

I don't know all the technical jargon, which you "techies" use to prove your points.....but I do know this......I have two Dooms......one drilled 5x5, and one drilled 5x4........and they are two DIFFERENT animals!!!

They don't roll the same, and they don't hit the same, and they don't give me the same backend reaction!! So I will suffice to say, until my eyes show me something a heckuva lot different.....CG maddahs to ME!
