Title: Black Friday deals
Post by: Ticketboothguy on November 17, 2017, 10:51:36 PM
Pretty simple, are there any bowling sites that do Black Friday deals and if so are they actually worth it or just a bit off normal prices?

Typically, they are the regular closeouts at the ‘regular’ closeout prices. Some of the closeouts may be discounted a little deeper.  But if you follow the main sites all year, you will generally not notice much of a difference. But there may be a few surprises. Keep your eyes open and I would encourage people to post on this thread of you see anything interesting for BF.

Bowlersmart gets overseas stuff and marks it down. Not much else is that great though

U think the greedy ball manufacturers are going to put their overproduced products on special for the biggest shopping day of the year? Lol think again!

There are a few deals, I feel it's the online shop taking the hit on the margin though...meaning the pro shops are the heros...

Buddies usually adds a few things to their must go page (granted, probably stuff that would've been marked down soon anyway). They also tend to lower the price on some. I've picked up some Black Friday deals from them in the past, there's usually something worth buying if you're looking for a toy more than a need.

Bowlingball.com has already started their black friday sales.

Buddies has an early Black Friday sale going on now. Got a radical rack attack for 29.99.

Yes, I purchased a couple other things to get my total over 50.00 for free s/h. Sorry I didn't mention that.

The Rack Attack Pearl is tempting at that price.

Anyone know how big a step down it is from a Xeno Pearl?

It was too tempting for me. They had it at $45 a couple weeks back and I didn't bite then, but now... Sold! Interesting that they still have them in (only) 15 pounds with 2-3 inch pins too.

I ended up pulling the trigger myself. $30 for a brand new ball was too much to pass up. My son needed thumb hole and thumb protection tape so I made up the difference to get free shipping.

I got the free shipping by ordering two Rack Attack balls... one will be a gift though. Can't go wrong at that price for a ball that many speak positively of.

I had two in my cart but decided to buy the tapes instead.

I think its a significant step down with that diff.  Would be upset for paying $70 for a Path Rising which fills that slot in my arsenal but I like Pyramid (love Radical too but more for their asym pieces).  $30 for a ball is awesome though.  Paid more than that yesterday for friggin pancake core entry level plastic ball.

Thanks. I'm actually looking for a significant step down so this might work out real well. Actually starting to wish I'd bought two.

Turns out, my son needed new slide sole and heel. Wore the felt off them in spots.  Would have been nice to tell me that before. But I ordered from Buddies. Had to find something to add to get free shipping, bought a second ball lol.

Really hard to lay off a Radical Cash at $115 at Buddies.  Also have Hammer plastic pancake balls for $20.  Almost makes me regret buying a Pyramid one for $40 shipped except I really wanted a ball without graphics.

Damn it couldn't resist The Fix at $90.  Going to wait to drill that one later but so versatile that is a good ball to keep in a box until you might need it.  Don't know how much longer that ball will be around.

One thing you can count on, Brunswick/Radical/DV8 balls will be very cheap within a few months after their introduction.

If I used their stuff, I would never buy them when first released.

Well I did need a strong asym for league and even now the More Cash is only about $35 cheaper but yeah you live you learn.  Whereas Storm will still be charging top shelf prices for a ball they released more than 6 years ago (Marvel Pearl) and get it too I guess.

It's all about supply and demand. I think the facility that Brunswick runs can turn out a lot more product than the Storm facility(s). Storm always seems to be short of at least one of their product lines, whereas I don't recall Brunswick and/or Ebonite having that issue.

Just my impression on the situation, which has no basis in fact, just supposition.

I could only get one of those plastics to show a weight, 8 lbs. otherwise I would have bought one. The other wouldn't show anything when clicking the box for selecting weight.

Yes sir. Online and in the pro shops prices drop fast.

Yeah done paying full price for balls now have a decent arsenal.  I love my More Cash but just threw a 240 this morning with my old BVP Rampage which I think I paid $100 for tops a decade ago.  Equipment is often overrated.  Happy now more consistent and can get at least near 200 consistently with nearly any ball in my arsenal.

Why do we have to bring the race of Friday into it?   :P

If you did not pick up one of those Rack Attacks for $30, they are sold out now.
