Title: Blems thoughts?
Post by: boytoy on October 18, 2003, 06:22:40 AM
I was wondering what was the general opinion of buying and throwing 2nds. blems...
I was looking more toward people hat have did it in the past and would do it again or would not. I have gotten a 2nd and not sure whether to drill it and throw it or sell it to a sucker...ummmm bowler?

Your thoughts

I have had no problems trusting blems from Storm, Hammer (the old Hammer) and Track. I have not had very good luck with Columbia, Ebonite or AMF blems though. I have never seen Brunswick blems for sale.

I had some really cool Storm blems too....

red and white FirePower
turquoise and pink Eraser
nearly pure silver Trauma
all green Response
purple Erase It

You can save some good money as long as you verify that they are COLOR blems and not spec blems. A particle ball with a 5" pin and 4 oz of top weight wont do ANYONE any good....

I ordered it off ebay......was told the blem was color and weight...and his example was 15# ball being 14 pounds 12 oz    I was thinking about trying a 14 pound ball (threw 15# all my life) and I seen this one going for $44 so I figured what the heck.

I bought a Columbia blem......a Hyde.  Usally throw alot of Storm. Havent threw Columbia in some time and thought..what the heck it's cheap enough and if I don't like it I am out less then $50. Unlike the $175 saw that I didn't like.

I have used several blems with no problems.  Of course, all of my blems were surface blems - color, engraving, or pinholes.  In fact, my last two favorite Visionary balls are blems (color).  Never tried one with an extreme pin.

i drilled up a mutant bonanza with a 7" pin. As long as you weigh it up b4 you punch it, there shouldn't be a problem. This one actually only had a 4.5" pin, the cg was mismarked!

It's the best $40 IVe ever spent for a  brand new ball.
