League Roll off
« on: April 26, 2006, 05:18:00 AM »
Got a problem with a league I sub on.  It's not really my problem but one of the team I sub with.  They are going to be bowling in the USBC Open on May 23 & 24 I believe.  They will be in Texas when the roll off for their league is supposed to be.  Some of the teams that are in the rolloff have gotten word of this and are now trying to see whether or not they have to postpone the rolloff or if they can pretty much have it without giving the other team a chance to bowl.  Is this legal?  Their fight with it is that according to USBC, once the final week of league is over, the rules are done.  Therefore the roll off is not covered by USBC rules.  Is this the case?  Do they have a leg to stand on?  I know in the competetive aspect the team should be allowed to bowl.  Had they reallized when the roll off would be they would have scheduled the trip differently.  Instead they are in a bind.  One of the guys said he will do an official protest to postpone the rolloff if necessary.  Anyone here can clear this up for me and for them?

Thanks,
Nick

I'm technically not a sub.  I'm on the roster for the team which makes me valid for any rolloffs as long as I've be in action within the past 2 weeks.

Just making sure.  It was an issue for us last year.  A team high in the standings had an extra teammate drop from their roster three weeks before the end of the season, and replaced him with a new person.  Since he was on their list three weeks before PR, even with no games, he was allowed to bowl.  Sets average on position round.

This year, we added the clause that they have to have X games before PR in order to bowl.
