What is the 3-6-9 targeting concept?
« on: December 15, 2014, 10:53:05 AM »
What is this targeting concept and how does it work? I was shown the concept, based on a starting point of placing my left foot on the 20 board. Question: how does the targeting change if my left foot starts on board 12?

The system doesn't work if you start on 12.

I was, still confused.....I hook to the left side pins for spares. Hooking to the left, I just watch my ball motion and where the oil is and ends. I move 369, but I "spot" bowl for the spares, aim to the right of the pin(s) a few boards.  if I had to stand @ 12 and aim at the second arrow like I was told, I'll pull my shot. I feel like I'm on a tight rope..

Even the USBC Video on this, the girl wasn't even hitting the second arrow.....

Yeah! I saw that too. I was wondering what the other shots were like that didn't make the video. Probably the one that went over the second arrow didn't convert.

I use that system for youth bowlers that are just starting out as a guideline.

In the first link that I posted above, at the bottom of that page are links to other spare systems like the KISS.

You're welcome.  I believe that this site should be used to share info and help others.

I just noticed a typo in the KISS system chart.  The last pin they have 7 but it should be 10.

as usual, more BS  about shooting spares,  First you decide whether you are right eyed or left eyed, then just throw a  straight ball to cover the spare.   After a few years off this site, still the same old
tired questions "how do I shoot spares".

C'mon, Bullred; why is it BS? Do you really want to return to the site just to be another in the long line of flamethrowers? We already have far too many people who love to jump people for everything that they post!

Personally, I agree with you. I don't need to follow a system. Through experience, I have learned where I like to stand, how I like to align myself, and what type of release I like to use to shoot my spares. That works for me (well, most of the time anyhow  ;)  Nevertheless, that doesn't mean it's wrong for people to look for systems like these if that's what they think is going to help them.

Remember, not everyone on this site is an above-average bowlers. There are plenty of beginners and/or lower-level guys and gals around here. Some of them just grab the ball and go without even looking to see where they're standing or how they're aligned. As such, if following 3-6-9 or some other system works for them, what's wrong with that?

It's nice to have you back, but lighten up, man!  ;D

Thanks guys for all the links and positive comments above. As with anything, there are some parts that will be useful to me and some parts that will not.

I had not heard of this system before, that is why I asked. You never have too many tools to put in your tool box. This system will most probably be best used on a sport shot, I would surmise. But thanks again, anyway.
