Bowled on the most seriously walled lanes...
« on: November 29, 2003, 07:28:47 AM »
Earlier this week I realized what y'all talk about when you talk about "the Wall."  I went to this place, 2 hours for eight bucks.  My brother and I figured that we can get some shots thrown just to practice.

Well I threw my normal shot straight down 8... ball took off.  Okay, the lanes are burned up from earlier today.  No big deal.  Moved inside, ball hit about 8 and took off again.

HMMM....

After throwing a few shots, and verifying it with the lane guy, all the oil is from 10 in.  Basically what it came down to was that we had to play way inside... not because the lanes were dry, but to keep it out of the dry so we actually had to make good shots.  The one game we did decide to see what it was like to throw against it we bowled the lights out and couldn't miss the pocket.  We carry around 205 averages.  At this place (and the guy said that the shot is like this day in and day out), I seriously think I'd average 220 at least.  If I missed right, it came back.  If I missed left, it held pocket, NO MATTER WHICH BALL I USED.

Is this the THS you all talk about?  I thought I bowled on one and my 205 average was kind of a dilusion... but after this outing... I don't know.  My normal league shot (with some variation) has characteristics that if you miss wide it's not coming back, but if you pull it it still might hold pocket.  (At least for righties.)  Is this typical?  Thanks a lot... this is my second year back after a hiatus.

There walls and then there is The Great Wall of China, but seems you found a Great One.  Yesssss.......this is what we are talking about on most THS.

Why no one takes a THS wall shot average to seriously.

Yes i realize what you mean,  my monday nite league was like that and still is to a certain point.

Last yr, there was guys who bowled once maybe twice a week averaging over 230, and the General Manager of the house was a PBA pro (sean quinn) and he only was averaging like 230's.

So you know it was a total cake shot lol.

And basically everyone except for a hand full of guys, anyone who scored play'd the track, basically up 10.   And of course i myself always had to play 4th arrow or deeper.  But the last two months of the yr, i decided to see what its like to play the track so every nite i would start out playing about 12and bouncing off 10,, well needless to say i was shooting 670 - 690 like it was cake.

this yr is basically the same, except, i started off in a funk, and was bowling like crap, but have gone the past 3 weeks shooting over 600, so i am happy lol.
