Have you tried a very small amount of Rosin on fingertips to help you grip?

Most tapes will protect, but also make it more slick, causing more grip pressure and possibly make the problem worse.  If the Rosin makes the fingertip slightly tacky you can free up some pressure... To me it's a very inexpensive experiment to try.

Scrub49,

Could you provide some more feedback?  I read your post as you are having an issue with hanging in the ball too long.

Are you using finger inserts or going without?  If you are hanging in the ball too long with fingertape, have you tried using a slightly larger fingerhole/insert?  Finger bruising - Have you had your span checked to ensure that the fit is correct and you have the correct pitches?

I always thought that the fingertapes would be used to provide more grip or a snugger hole fit, and if you were having pain/bruising that would be more of an indication of an improper fitting ball, either span length or pitches.

Those are some really extreme finger pitches, might want to get a second opinion on your fit.

And in the original post "BACK OF MY NAILS BRUISING" is also a pretty good indicator of a span that is too long.

I was fitted by Rod Ross at ITRC and at a couple of others and they were all really close  maybe just an 1/16 difference of between one or the other.

How long ago? Rod didn't notice the bruising on your fingernails?

Was the finger hole too tight with the finger tape on?  Did you have to kind of force the finger in?

As to too deep, with the tape on, your sense of feel may not be as great and it is possible you placed the finger in deeper than normally.

If your ball was drilled to fit your fingers without finger tape on, the holes will be too small with finger tape on.  Assuming you use finger inserts, my first idea would be to change out the grips to fit with the tape on, if the problem persists, then it is most likely a span/pitch issue.

I tried the same Storm finger tape and didn't like it. Way too tacky for my needs and made my fingers harder to fit into the holes (blank drill no grip fingertip). Plus I sweat a lot, so the Storm tape didn't stay on my fingers very long before I had to remove it.
I've been using Vise Bio Skin Pro silver tape with much success. It's much thinner and more stretchy than the other finger tapes. It's like an extra protective layer of your own skin. This kind of tape adds just the right amount of tackiness and protection to my fingers with better adhesion to my skin where it doesn't come off as easily with my sweaty hands. It's the same stuff Kris Prather uses and he's got a video on YouTube on how he cuts and tapes his fingers. I use the same method and it works great. You should give that a try.
