Does the USBC Move to Texas Make Sense to You?
« on: March 18, 2008, 02:28:47 AM »
One always wonders about the true reasons behind a companies move of its headquarters from one location to another. Having been an executive in a large international company in my working days and participating in a number of meetings, discussions etc. regarding such situations, I feel that the true reasons are seldom those which are published.

So USBC moves to Arlington, TX in a shared complex with BPAA, near all the other sports/entertainment "stuff" down there. Statements are made that monetary assistance will be forthcoming from some Texas fund for such purposes.

I wonder what the real reasons are? Are they tired of the harsh winters in Wisconsin? Do we average bowlers think the dues will increase? (You betcha!) Do we average bowlers really care where the HQ is located? (Nah!) Do some of the board members want to or do live near the new location? (Do not think this does not enter into the decision)

Where will the money eventually come from for the new facility and the move?

Whatcha all think?

Not a problem, I thought as you had, they already built the training center.  I am sure glad they hadn't, though that may have been an influence to stay.

Interesting...we make a big deal about an organization that supports something most of us really love to do, yet don't spend two cents worrying about the really serious waste that's going on in Washington.  I was talking to a friend today who works at a military installation.  He said one of the admins (yes admin!) had a 32" monitor on her desk!  Please!  What in the world does an admin need that kind of hardware for?  That thing has to be $4000.  No wonder our defense budget is so high.  We've all heard the stories of $500 hammers and $600 toilet seats and we're worried about where the USBC wants to move and the funny jackets they wear?
