Title: Bowling and Working Out
Post by: Zanatos1914 on November 05, 2013, 03:08:13 PM
Was just wondering if anybody was using weight training as a method to help with bowling...

During normal bowling season I try to avoid heavy weights because the larger the more difficulty I have with bowling... Incline and shoulder exercises are extremly light because I dont want the tightness and extra stress added on with bowling...

Just started a new exercise to get more power.....
Started using a single leg balance exercise with my finishing leg and doing arm curl with the opposite leg.... This should give me more balance and power... Just a thought...

You're doing good stuff. Don't do heavy weights with shoulder exercises, as you don't want to get bulky and restrict arm motion. It's not a question, it's a must. I know, as I also played baseball and it follows mostly the same stuff for arm and balance exercises

I do the stair climber and leg presses for strength in the lower body and legs, especially my thighs. I would like to do squats, but too much basketball has destroyed my knees somewhat.

I do boxing reps on elastic cords for toning shoulders and keeping my upper body limber.

Lighter weights with more reps is a great way to go. Plenty of cardio for overall fitness, and some leg work will keep your base strong, too.  Nutrition is often overlooked but shouldn't be at all.

All good suggestions, I agree!

I like to work the legs alot, along with my core. I do light work up top, but nothing too heavy. I'm a small guy, so I really can't muscle it, so good balance and solid core is paramount.
