I use pinpal, its not free but it works extremely well and I have zero complaints with it.

I also have been using PinPal for the last couple of seasons. Last time I checked the cost was $8.99, but you could get the lite version for free. For what it is worth, I started out using the lite version and didn't really see a difference in the two but for the price I was glad to support the developers.

I got an I-Touch this year also. Started last week with IBowlSpot from BowlSpot dot Com. Seems quite versatile. I can input pin by pin & get complete stats on my game or just go with the 1st ball/2nd ball & only track my average. Multiple leagues & practice events. I like it.
