Bowling ball with a 0.030 RG differential
« on: August 21, 2003, 11:10:55 PM »
Are there any not so expensive bowling balls that have that differential?  The only ones I seem to find are Urethane 0.020s and reactive 0.040s.  I would like to find something in between that.  Thanks for any help.

I have really liked my Monster Scream/r .36 and my Walter Ray MVP about .34!  Yumm Yumm!  big hit from both!

BTW, there are two versions of the Sonic, the US and the Asian.  The US edition hooks more.

I have always been under the impression that the higher the differential the higher the flare or hook you could get.  With that said, I figured that since I have a ball that hooks really good at .015 and a ball that hook really really good at .042, I needed something in the middle of those to help me find a shot when I can't seem to get the other 2 balls to strike consistently.

CRutkowski,

Since surface is a much more responsible for ball reaction than RG Differential, I believe you are focusing on the wrong piece of the ball's specifications. Most balls (not all) with a diff of .030, will probably be as strong or stronger than your Blade Pearl.

Try looking at the Roto-Grip Sonic-X (solid or pearl) or the Dyno-Thane Barrage.
Other possibilities are the Columbia Wild or Scout/R, Brunswick Power Groove, Ebonite Tornado, AMF Courage and Xtreme Courage and Storm Big Hit.
The Ebonite V2 Dry has almost no differential and it can posisbly fit here also; but it is more expensive than most of these others.

Just so you guys know, I have decided to go with a 15# Storm Big Hit Solid.  It should ship sometime tomorrow and I'll get it by Thursday or Friday.  I'll get a chance to try it out in my Thursday league next week.  I'll let you guys know how it goes.

Well I had come on this forum and asked for suggestions for an in between ball for my game.  I received a lot of recommendations and looked through each one.  Well I went with the Storm Big Hit Solid.

I have the pin just right of my ring finger and 5" from my PAP.  I stand around 17 boards left of the center and throw it out between 10-15.  I used this ball for a whole set last night for the first time.  I shot a 213, 220, and a 208 and basically had the same shot all night.  This ball hits real hard and carries well.  I think I had one 10 pen the whole night and that was because of me, I didn't throw it out far enough and it came in flat.

I like this ball very much and wanted to thank you guys for its recommendation.
